TikTok's not just for dancing anymore; it's also an app where many pull inspiration for the latest fashion trends. Think of it like Gen Z's Pinterest. Since fashion is always changing, sometimes it's hard to keep up, but the popular app tends to have the inside scoop on what styles and aesthetics are current and popular. From TikTok, for example, we have seen trends like Twighlightcore, outfits worn by Bella Swan in the popular "Twilight" franchise, a resurgence of Barbie pink fashions, and the revival of brands like Abercrombie, just to name a few.

Linen pants are definitely apt for the summer weather. They're cute, lightweight, and the newest TikTok fashion trend. Some girls wear them as a part of the clean girl aesthetic, which is code for a minimalistic outfit with gold jewelry and a natural or glowy makeup look (via NYC Taste Makers). Minimalism is nothing new, but when paired with linen pants, it's a new take on the trend.
Matching plisse sets
Matching sets are nothing new and tend to make the rounds every year, but plisse fabric sets are all the rage this summer. Plisse is a textured cotton fabric that's striped and pleated (via The Fabric of Our Lives). Like linen pants, plisse sets are also lightweight and comfortable with an almost pajama-like feel. If you've been living under a rock, early 2000s fashion is making a comeback thanks to TikTok. That means low-rise jeans, Juicy Couture sweat sets, and tube tops. This popular strapless top is one of the hottest trends this summer according to TikTok user @miks_tiks. She also notes that, along with tube tops, strapless dresses will also be big. Strapless dresses were another Y2K trend, so we shouldn't be surprised.
Cargo and parachute pants
Another Y2K trend that's made a comeback thanks to TikTok are cargo and parachute pants. Gen Z as a whole has been straying away from skinny jeans, so it only makes sense that they'd gravitate towards extra baggy pants (via Input Magazine). They also fall under the "little shirt big pants" trend that made its way onto TikTok back in 2020 (via High Snobiety). You could always style these baggy pants with a cute tube top, so get creative with them.
Archive tops
Archive tops are one of our personal favorites, but if you don't like ripped clothes, they might not be for you. Archive tops, also known as subversive tops, tend to be asymmetrical with several slits and cutouts made of cotton or mesh. One example is the Marine Serre Archive Mélange Asymmetric Top, though it's made from viscose. They became popular in fall 2021, but they've made a summer resurgence, serving a post-apocalyptic vibe. Low-rise anything

Crochet fashion makes sense because it can be colorful, lightweight, and unique if you take the time to make your own pieces. This isn't the first time crochet's been popular on the app. In fact, in 2020, there was a trend to recreate the iconic JW Anderson Colourblock Patchwork Cardigan worn by Harry Styles (via High Snobiety).
Platform sandals
Platform shoes are nothing new, and platform sneakers have grown in popularity in recent years. TikTok, however, decided it's time for platform sandals to rule once again, as seen in a TikTok video by @vanmandaa. If you're on the shorter side, platform sandals give you a few inches without having to wear heels, but they're also simply cute. Urban Outfitters, aka the Gen Z holy grail, even collaborated with Steve Madden to release platform sandals that went on to sell like hot cakes.
Coastal grandmother
An unexpected trend is the coastal grandmother aesthetic. This aesthetic includes stripes, sweaters, neutral/simple colors, and khaki capris as seen on TikTok user Chandler DeHart in her outfit idea compilation (via TikTok). The aesthetic draws from looks you'd expect to see at New England spots like Hampton Beach or Cape Cod. It reminds us of Taylor Swift's fashion circa 2014 during her "1989" era.
Balletcore
We don't know how this one became a summer trend, but the balletcore fashion aesthetic has rocked the fashion scene this summer. Balletcore consists of pastels, wrap skirts or shirts, silk bows, and an overall hyper-feminine/delicate aesthetic. A popular example is a blue wrap top worn by Cassie in Season 2 of "Euphoria" (via Worn on TV), who wore a lot of pastels throughout the season. What's more, this fashion trend could possibly roll into fall with its use of long sleeves and leg warmers.
