Can Botox On Your Hairline Keep The Sweat Away?

Excess sweating can be incredibly frustrating, and all that sweat can become bothersome if it's affecting your day-to-day life. Tablets can help to treat the problem, among several other specially designed treatments (via NHS). However, there is another surprising candidate that can help to eliminate your sweaty troubles once and for all. Botox. Yes — Botox! Millions of people get Botox every year, according to a review in Advances in Dermatology and Allergology. However, some of the reasons that people use it may surprise you. Botox has a multitude of other uses under its arsenal, including treating foot pain and excess sweating. If you find that you sweat often, your medical provider may recommend Botox as an option. While it may seem peculiar, it actually works incredibly well. And that's not all!

There are also claims that Botox can also be used to treat sweating around the hairline. While it may sound surprising, it turns out that this treatment is actually incredibly effective and may help nip the problem in the bud once and for all.

Botox helps to minimize hairline sweating

Excess sweating can be frustrating. Not only can it make you feel more self-conscious, but it can also be incredibly irritating if it happens often. After all, who wants to be feeling all hot and sticky, especially near your hairline? While it is natural to sweat, some people experience it much more than others, and that's completely normal. However, if hairline sweat is getting in the way of you enjoying your day-to-day life, using Botox can actually help to solve this problem.

Speaking to POPSUGAR, dermatologist Michelle Henry, M.D. explains exactly how the treatment combats sweating: "[the botox] blocks nerve signals responsible for producing perspiration and paralyzes the sweat glands. This stops sweating in the area for about three to six months." This makes it a great option for individuals who have concerns with excess sweating in this area and is a great way to keep those pesky beads of sweat at bay. If you've had Botox before, you may even find the whole thing a complete breeze. Additionally, it can also treat several other areas of the body, like your underarms for example; Botox can be used to treat excessive sweating under your armpits. However, while it's easy to see things through rose-tinted glasses regarding treatments, it's always best to get professional advice to see what will work best for you.

Antiperspirants could help keep hairline sweating at bay too

Botox is great for preventing excess hairline sweating and is highly effective if done correctly. However, it isn't the only way that you can combat hairline sweating; there are plenty of other ways to treat it whether it's excessive or not. The ex-head of R&D at SkinKraft Laboratories, Dr. Kaustav Guha, explains: "[For] facial hyperhidrosis your doctor may suggest antiperspirants, Botox injections, oral medications, Iontophoresis, Sympathectomy or removal of sweat glands, depending on the severity." He also adds that you should "take regular showers, wear comfortable clothes (preferably cotton ones that let your skin breathe), limit your caffeine intake, avoid spicy food" (via Hindustan Times).

Each of these methods may help to prevent any excess hairline sweating and can be easily implemented into any routine with some practice. However, it will largely depend upon the individual; Not everyone is the same. Similarly, even if you don't experience excess sweating, you may still decide to get Botox near your hairline. It all boils down to what you feel is best for you and if you would benefit. Now you know that Botox on your hairline can keep the sweat away, you'll be more equipped to make the right decision. However, make sure you look out for signs you've gotten too much Botox. This will help to ensure the treatment has worked correctly.
