Former soccer star and current wife to NFL player Patrick Mahomes, Brittany Mahomes is no stranger to being in the public eye. Especially since recently forming a fast friendship with Taylor Swift (whose current beau Travis Kelce is like family to Patrick Mahomes), it's only natural to expect we'll be hearing even more about Brittany Mahomes in the near future. So we figured now was as fitting a time as any to have a chat about our favorite topic: celeb style choices.
As with any celeb, Brittany Mahomes has seen some serious fashion wins as well as the occasional glaring fashion faux pas. The NFL WAG and mother of two certainly isn't afraid to showcase her own unique style, whether it's a truly stunning ensemble or a daring 'fit that has fans begging her to get a stylist. Mahomes seems to have developed a thick skin, though, and when asked about the hate in an Instagram Q&A, per CafeMom, she said, "I could give two s—s about people's opinion of me that don't even know me." You go, girl. All that being said, there's no denying that some of Mahomes' looks have been ... well, less than flattering. Others we would call downright outrageous. Whether you're a fan of Mahomes' wacky outfits or a critic in the comments, there's no denying that Brittany Mahomes has made some interesting style choices over the years.
Fans had mixed opinions on this Versace dress
If there's any occasion where NFL WAG Brittany Mahomes would want to have her style game on point, it's for the ESPY Awards, and we must say, Mahomes definitely dropped the ball here. The 2023 ESPYs saw Mahomes wearing this Versace cutout dress which seems to buckle across the chest. The cutouts actually aren't too bad, in our opinion — what's worse are the strategically placed buttons on either side of her chest.
Commenters didn't dig this Vegas 'fit
We aren't sure if Brittany Mahomes was going for a stunning naked dress moment with this Vegas 'fit, but regardless, some commenters on her Instagram post weren't vibing with it. One user even said this look makes Mahomes resemble a "Vegas show girl." While we're all about you doing you (and while we love a good naked dress) this one didn't stun. Rather than the sheer jersey taking center stage, her black underwear set grabs our attention, leaving the jersey to be an afterthought.
This dress does her no favors
Oh Brittany, what were you thinking when you put on this sparkling black dress? Maybe her posture in this photo just isn't the best, but to us, it looks like the dress has zero shape and does nothing for her physique. The black and silver glitter stuns, though, and we'd love to see her in it again after a quick trip to the tailor for some much-needed shaping.
How many pockets does one need?
We all know by now that cargo pants can be high fashion, but we think Brittany Mahomes may have taken it one step too far here. It's not the color we have a problem with (actually, we think Mahomes slays this light lilac), but rather the excessive pockets on the pants. Even a few more pockets than normal could have been perfectly fine were it not for the way they pop off the pants, giving them a bulky and unflattering silhouette.
Is this shirt too provocative for a night out?
We aren't sure what to make of this corset top, to be honest. It toes the line between appropriate and inappropriate, with a sheer chest area showing off the bra underneath. We don't necessarily hate it, but we do think it may have been more wearable for a night out at the club rather than what appears to be an upscale sushi restaurant.
Cowboy boots and ... velvet sweats?
We truly have no words for this outfit Brittany Mahomes was spotted on the field in. While the top looks cute, the baggy velvet-looking sweats tucked into the white cowboy boots are ... well, they're certainly not our vibe. We think Mahomes was going for casual glam with this 'fit, but the boots and pants combo is really throwing us off. Next time, pair the pants with some high tops, or the boots with literally anything else.
These orange pinstripes are giving clown vibes
Now, we're not against orange, and we're certainly not against rocking pinstripes outside the office, but something about this pinstriped orange blazer is giving us major clown vibes. Personally, we think a more muted shade of orange (or red) or simply skipping the pinstripes would have been a better choice, but we all know by now that Brittany Mahomes isn't afraid of being bright and bold.
Not everyone appreciated this blue silky number
There isn't really anything wrong with this dress Brittany Mahomes wore to a wedding at first glance (though we're still begging her to befriend a tailor), but commenters on this Instagram post think it was too fancy to wear if she wasn't a bridesmaid. One commenter even saw fit to remind Mahomes that "outshining the bride is important not to do." Given that Mahomes is already a star, it could be that this dress was too fancy even for a formal event — but we'll let the bride have the final word on that.
