Vivienne Jolie-Pitt Is Growing Up Fast
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, the youngest daughter of Hollywood's once-upon-a-time "it couple" Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has grown into a gorgeous and ambitious teenager — one that the world is slowly seeing more and more of. Of course, growing up in the spotlight comes with plenty of perks but also a lot of disadvantages. Vivienne has plenty of doors open, and recently she even worked on her first Broadway project — something most theater teens could only dream of. However, her strained relationship with her father is also the talk of the town, and that can't be easy for a teenager who's still finding herself.
In hopes of getting a better picture of just how much she's impacted by the spotlight, as well as the significantly different relationship with her parents, we turned to New York-based psychologist Dr. Catherine Nobile, director of Nobile Psychology, who answered all our questions. Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is growing up, and while she's trying to figure out her spot in the world, the world has all eyes on her.
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt has developed her own sense of fashion
When it comes to parenting, Angelina Jolie has done an incredible job of allowing her children to explore fashion and find which styles they like. "Allowing children to cultivate their own sense of style from an early age brings many benefits," Dr. Catherine Nobile exclusively tells us. "It promotes self-expression, enabling kids to showcase their unique personalities and tastes through their clothing choices. This autonomy in fashion boosts their self-esteem as they become more confident in their decisions and comfortable in their own skin." And if there's one thing we can tell about the Jolie-Pitt kids, it's that they certainly seem confident and independent.
While Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is still a teen exploring all that fashion has to offer, Jolie has revealed that her daughter doesn't like clothes that are too feminine. "Vivienne still can't believe I made her a princess," the actor admitted to People in 2019, referring to Vivenne's first acting gig as young Aurora in the Disney hit "Maleficient." "She likes her overalls, I can't put her in a dress. So she's like, 'How could you make me a princess?'" Jolie recalled. Vivienne's older sister Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has also undergone a style transformation while in the spotlight, and it's clear that personal expression through fashion is of major importance in the Jolie-Pitt family. "Experimenting with different styles can broaden their cultural awareness, making them more open to and appreciative of diversity," adds Dr. Nobile. And just like her sister Shiloh, Vivienne also likes to play around with traditionally masculine fashion, rocking pieces she likes no matter which section they were bought in.
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt has kicked off her career in theater on Broadway
She may just be a teen, but Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is already very passionate about her career. Apart from a few acting gigs, the youngest Jolie-Pitt daughter has shown a major interest in working in the theater. In fact, Vivienne has assisted Angelina Jolie in the production of "The Outsiders" on Broadway, a musical that Jolie produced. "She has been there to assist in any way she can," Angelina revealed to People in 2024.
Dr. Catherine Nobile exclusively explains to us that encouraging children to go for career goals early on can have various results. "Positively, it can cultivate a robust work ethic, discipline, and ambition, which may pave the way for academic and professional achievements," she says. However, Dr. Nobile adds that it can also cause harm to the child. "It can cause significant stress and anxiety, potentially resulting in mental health challenges like burnout, depression, or diminished self-esteem if the child feels they are falling short of expectations." Of course, with Vivienne, it certainly seems as if the work she's done in the theater was all her choice, as Jolie has previously stated she doesn't expect her children to work in entertainment. "None of my kids want to be actors," she told People in 2019. "[They're into] business, humanitarian affairs, things like that."
As a result of her involvement in "The Outsiders," Vivienne attended the 2024 Tony Awards alongside her mother. For the occasion, the teen rocked an Eton's Signature Twill shirt with a teal pant and waistcoat set. To make the look more casual and age-appropriate, Vivienne opted for a classic pair of Converse sneakers, and while she forwent accessories, she completed the look with a fun teal bowtie.
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is all about supporting others while finding herself
Angelina Jolie has revealed that Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is all about supporting others, a trait that Jolie's mother, Marcheline Bertrand, also had. "Viv reminds me of my mother in that she isn't focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives," Jolie told People. "She's very thoughtful and serious about theater and working hard to best understand how to contribute." But being so nurturing and kind as a teen certainly doesn't mean that Vivienne isn't complex in her own right.
"It's hard to speak for her," Jolie told Deadline in 2024. "She's a complex young woman." Jolie has always been open about raising her children and watching them experience the world all while allowing them to find themselves. Of course, a major part of allowing Vivienne to find herself is also letting her rock clothes that she likes, as well as experimenting with various styles in order to express herself. "Allowing children to choose clothes they feel good in supports a positive body image and self-acceptance," Dr. Catherine Nobile exclusively tells us. "Creativity flourishes as they play with colors, patterns, and styles, enriching their artistic sensibilities." While Vivienne has been rather private about her life, the teenager is certainly exploring the world and what it has to offer apart from just focusing on her career.
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt has a trust fund that allows her to pursue her dreams
Having enough money to pay for not only what you need but also what you want is something most teens can't relate to. However, the Jolie-Pitt children are lucky enough — their parents have set them up with trust funds. "One thing Brad and Angelina [Jolie] always agreed on was that any money earned by their kids should be set aside for them and put into their trust funds," a source told Life & Style in 2024. "They created accounts for all their kids to use for things like education and travel and even to buy their own homes down the line. All the kids have all had very careful forward planning done for them financially, whether it's magazine paydays, or inheritance from relatives, or money accumulated in trust over the years."
Naturally, having this kind of safety net to fall back on surely means a lot to Vivienne. While she might not struggle financially in comparison to many of her peers, Jolie and Pitt's youngest daughter has traveled the world enough to understand just how enormous her privilege is. "We're never going to stop traveling. I think the greatest education I can give my kids, particularly as they are international children, is to keep them traveling," Jolie told People in 2007. Of course, anyone who knows anything about Jolie knows that she does a lot of humanitarian work, and for her, travel doesn't mean luxurious resorts — instead, it means visiting those who need her help.
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt has a great relationship with her mother, Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie certainly seems to be very close to her children, so it's not surprising that Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is always seen smiling when hanging out with her. Jolie is very involved in Vivienne's life, and the two seem to have a very strong bond. "Children tend to develop stronger connections with a parent who supports their journey in building their sense of self, unlike one who is more detached," Dr. Catherine Nobile exclusively explains to Glam. "This connection is often the result of the parent's active role in encouraging the child's individuality, fostering self-expression, and supporting their interests and choices."
Of course, while none of us know what the relationship between Jolie and Vivienne is truly like, it's safe to say that we can paint a picture of it based on what we see when they're in public or out working together. "Angelina Jolie's approach of allowing her children to explore their passions and make independent decisions likely creates a bond rooted in respect and mutual understanding," Dr. Nobile tells us. "This kind of parenting can lead to a closer emotional relationship, as children feel appreciated and supported in their personal growth." Considering that Vivienne seems to enjoy spending time with her mother by going on humanitarian trips with her and working on new projects, it's safe to say that the Hollywood star has managed to establish a strong relationship with her daughter.
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt seems to have distanced herself from her father, Brad Pitt
Unlike her relationship with Angelina Jolie, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt doesn't seem to be on great terms with her father, Brad Pitt. In fact, similar to Shiloh and Zahara, who seem to have dropped Pitt from their last name, Vivienne was also credited as "Vivienne Jolie" while working on Broadway in 2024. While the change of her last name hasn't been confirmed, it seems as if the teen prefers going by just her mother's last name.
"A more distant parent, like Brad Pitt in this scenario, may find it challenging to forge a similar closeness if they are seen as less involved or supportive," Dr. Catherine Nobile exclusively tells us, referencing Vivienne's close relationship with her mother. "A parent's nurturing of a child's individuality can significantly impact the depth of the parent-child relationship, leading to a stronger sense of closeness and understanding with the parent who actively promotes their child's autonomy," she adds. And while it's unclear just what the relationship between Pitt and his youngest daughter looks like today, one thing is certain — it's nowhere as great as her relationship with Jolie.
