The Outdated Hair Accessory Ivanka Trump Looks Like She's Been Wearing
Ivanka Trump always aims to look perfect during her public appearances, but there are plenty of times when the first daughter gets it wrong with her choice of style. Some Ivanka Trump outfits just didn't impress, and she's even made mistakes when it comes to her long, blond locks. One attempt, in particular, backfired when Ivanka tried to make her hair look thicker. In actuality, she looked out of touch by styling her hair with a tired and outdated trend.
In a March 2025 Instagram post, Ivanka appeared to embellish her straight blond hair with a volumizing tool that made her look juvenile. It looked like it was none other than the memorable Bumpit, which created an iconic Y2K hairstyle that's since become very outdated. We all remember the Bumpits that women would use to add extra hair height in seconds. It was an easy way to amplify thin or thinning hair, but the style would go on to look cartoonish and far too obvious.
Why did Ivanka potentially choose this hair accessory from so many years ago? We'll never know. Hair extensions would've surely done the trick to make her locks look fuller. If Ivanka wants her hair to appear voluminous, she should stick with a wavy hairstyle. This would add a sense of depth to her tresses that would keep them looking healthy and vibrant. She would be smart to avoid the Bumpit until she figures out how to make it look more seamless and contemporary.
How Ivanka Trump could've worn a Bumpit with a modern touch
By the late 2000s, it felt like the Bumpit hair accessory was unavoidable. Reality television celebrities and teen starlets would use the product to give their hair extra volume, some even poufing up their bangs for more height. Ivanka Trump seemingly wanted to spice up her ordinary pin-straight hair and keep it from looking too frigid and serious. But she should have considered ways to update the '00s Bumpit hair trend. As is, her hairstyle looks mismatched with so much structure in the front and a questionable attempt at whimsy in the back. The "set it and forget it" practice of placing the bump on the crown of her head and cascading her hair over it looked too simple and felt uninspired.
Instead of making the bump the focal point of her hairstyle, Ivanka should have considered pairing it with a stylish up-do. A thick braid or a luscious, textured ponytail would have brought the style into the 2020s. Ivanka should take advantage of how Bumpits can be used in a playful fashion. For example, a half-up half-down hairstyle would keep the use of a Bumpit from looking basic. Or for a quick fix on busy days, she could pair the accessory with a messy bun to make her hair look fully dimensional from root to tip.
Ivanka Trump made another big hair error at the 2025 Super Bowl
No one can have it all, and for Ivanka Trump, flawless hair remains an elusive piece of the aesthetic puzzle. Despite her usually well-curated wardrobe, her hair fails keep making headlines because of how easily they could be avoided. One example was at the 2025 Super Bowl, which she attended with her father, President Donald Trump. A video posted by the president's communications advisor, Margo Martin, on X showed the father-daughter duo from behind before panning to the field, but viewers were far more focused on Ivanka's hair.

From that angle, the extensions were impossible to miss. Not only were they visibly clipped in, but they didn't move like her real hair and refused to blend in. Unsurprisingly, it didn't take long for the internet to pounce and throw shade at the obviously artificial look. "@IvankaTrump's extensions look awful," one X user wrote. "You can see where they begin. She should fire her stylist." To be fair, Ivanka's hair issues are likely more noticeable now because, at 43, she's naturally aging and may be losing hair volume. While aesthetic procedures can help preserve a youthful face, there's still no quick fix for thinning strands. It all comes down to genetics, and judging by Donald's wispy strands, Ivanka wasn't exactly dealt a Trump card in the hair department.
