Susan Boyle's Stunning Transformation

If you were around at the end of the aughties, chances are, you heard of Susan Boyle. The singer rose to fame when she appeared on "Britain's Got Talent" in 2009 and belted out her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Misérables, shocking the judges and the audience with her voice. Needless to say, Boyle made it to the next round, where she would hold strong round after round until she got second place in the final.

Since then, Boyle's career took off, but the road wasn't always easy. She dealt with mental health issues and the pressures of her rising fame, but bravely overcame them — and had a glow-up while doing so. Over the years, Boyle remained true to herself even though she was an aspiring singer from Scotland who became a worldwide sensation. Her stunning transformation is a sight to behold, and from switching up her hairstyles to leveling up her stage 'fits, Boyle has risen to the top since her first singing competition days.

2009-2010: Susan Boyle began her I Dreamed a Dream era

When Susan Boyle first walked onto the stage of "Britain's Got Talent," her joking demeanor caused the judges not to take her seriously at first. Although Boyle dressed up in a pretty cream-colored frock, she hadn't yet hopped on the glam train with her makeup-free face and short, curly hair. However, when she sang the first notes, judges Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden grinned in delight. Even the ever-cynical Simon Cowell looked happily surprised.

Boyle's time on "Britain's Got Talent" launched her to stardom, but she sadly had to check into a facility after the season ended due to exhaustion. "She was very tired and hasn't been sleeping. She has just gone away to have some time to herself and to sleep and eat, doing all the things she hasn't been able to do in the last week," Piers Morgan told The Guardian. Thankfully, Boyle recovered quickly and was able to take part in the "Britain's Got Talent" tour. That year, she released her first album, "I Dreamed a Dream," and gave another live performance of the song in 2010 at the Ana Rosa show, as shared on YouTube. This time, Boyle had perfected the soft glam look with trimmed brows, a touch of blush, and rosy lipstick. The singer also sported some bangs, and her hair looked like it had a fresh dye job. With her silver glittery gown and an orchestra accompanying her vocals, Boyle looked completely at home on the stage.

2011-2018: Susan Boyle experimented with her hair color

Susan Boyle was an up-and-coming celebrity who proudly showed off her gray hair when she first competed on "Britain's Got Talent." After going brunette, she switched things up with a soft auburn that complemented her cool skin undertone. By 2011, Boyle had released her third album, "Someone to Watch Over Me," which debuted at number one on the U.K. charts and number four in the United States. That September, the mezzo-soprano proudly showed off her fiery 'do during a performance of her song, "You Have to Be There," on "America's Got Talent." With Boyle wearing a black velvet dress, her hair stood out under the lights as she received a standing ovation from the audience.

In 2018, Boyle got even bolder with her hair color choices and went for a mix of light and deep reds with chunky blond highlights. During that year, she competed on "America's Got Talent: The Champions" (which was filmed in the fall and aired the following January), and wowed the audience with her rendition of "Wild Horses." It was clear she was an icon with her rock star hair and long sequined gown, and it wasn't just her voice that wowed the audience and the judges that day.

2019-2023: Susan Boyle made a victorious return to the stage after a health scare

A decade after appearing on "Britain's Got Talent," Susan Boyle released her aptly-named album, "Ten," which included the song that put her on the map: "I Dreamed a Dream." As reported by Digital Journal, Boyle shared, "We knew this album had to celebrate 10 years. Never in my wildest dreams in 2009 did I think we would be celebrating 10 years. So, we looked at the fans' favorite tracks over the past decade and decided to incorporate them."

After touring in 2020 and taking a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Boyle kept her looks low-key but somehow managed to keep her red hair looking fresh between colorings. In an Instagram video shared in April 2020, the "Who I Was Born To Be" singer looked vibrant with her copper strands while telling viewers, "To all the front-line workers and emergency workers during this time, we love you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

Boyle took a break from the limelight for a few years but returned to perform with the London cast of "Les Misérables" on "Britain's Got Talent" in 2023. Wearing a sequined navy blue dress, Boyle later told the judges that this particular performance was special, as she had suffered a stroke the year before. "I have fought like crazy to get back on stage, and I have done it," she said triumphantly.

2024-Present: Susan Boyle is in her blond era

We've seen Susan Boyle with gray hair, as a brunette, red locks, and now, she's having fun as a blond. In May 2024, she attended the Pride of Scotland Awards looking fresh with a cool-toned ashy color featuring thin highlights scattered throughout. While Boyle normally favors dark colors, she switched things up by wearing a bubblegum pink dress. As always, her makeup was minimal, but she made sure to apply a good dose of blush to match the cheerful shade of her sheath.

Aside from some appearances, Boyle had been mostly absent from the stage during the last couple of years, but she announced in April 2025 that fans would hear from her soon. "Today's a special day — it's my birthday! But I've got something exciting to share... I'm back and working on some wonderful new projects that I can't wait for you to hear about!" she teased on Instagram. Boyle continued, "More news will be coming very soon, but I just wanted to say how much I've missed you all. Your support means the world to me and I'm more determined and excited than ever."

We can't wait to see what the songstress comes up with next, and we're sure Boyle will look fantastic wherever and whenever she performs.
