Before-And-After Pics Of Melissa McCarthy Show Just How Weight Loss Transformed Her Face

Melissa McCarthy is undeniably one of the biggest names in comedy, and thanks to more than two decades of stellar performances, she's grown and changed in the spotlight. Recently, we couldn't help but notice how different the actor's face looks. This isn't too surprising, either. Weight changes are often noticeable in folks' faces, and Melissa McCarthy's been open about her weight-loss transformation for several years now. It also takes less than 10 pounds for a face to look different. "Women and men of average height need to gain or lose about three and a half and four kilograms, or about eight and nine pounds, respectively, for anyone to see it in their face," associate professor Nicholas Rule from the University of Toronto explained. McCarthy lost 95 pounds, and the actor lost volume in her cheeks because of it.

In 2018, McCarthy opened up about her body image, revealing that she had always struggled with her appearance. "I do think I worried about weight too soon, when it was only little-kid weight," the "Gilmore Girls" actor told Rolling Stone. "I thought I battled weight throughout high school, but I look back at pictures of me as a cheerleader, doing sprints, lifting weights, doing gymnastics, playing tennis, and while I wasn't reed-thin like some girls ... I would kill, absolutely kill, to look like that now," the comedian added. Indeed, McCarthy's appearance has changed a lot in the years since that interview, and she seems to have updated her makeup to match her new look.

Melissa McCarthy adapted her makeup routine to her slimmer face

As weight fluctuates, it changes one's face, so adjusting your makeup routine for weight loss (and gain) is crucial. Of course, a star of Melissa McCarthy's caliber has a team of professionals available to her to implement those changes. Emmy Award-winning makeup artist Eve Pearl explained to Today that it's all about adding some fullness and dewiness back onto the face, which can often be drier after weight loss. "Learning how to achieve the best possible look in your new skin is a very easy obstacle to overcome considering all of your hard work thus far," Pearl shared.

Today, McCarthy's red-carpet makeup routine, such as at the 2026 Golden Globes, often includes a dewy base, subtle bronzer, and winged eyeliner with false lashes, all of which help lift her features. Skin droopiness is common after significant weight loss, which is why a makeup routine revolving around lifting facial features is crucial.

Now, McCarthy isn't the only comedian whose face has changed. Before-and-after pics of Amy Schumer show how weight loss transformed her face, too!
