Ranking The Trump Ladies' Wedding Dresses By Timeless Appeal
The Trump family is associated with many things, one of them being a signature sense of style. Influenced by access to immense wealth and privilege, their wardrobes tend to feature designer brands and an old money vibe, whether they're attending presidential events, socializing off-duty, or walking down the aisle. The wedding gowns worn by the Trump ladies (and those who would become Trump ladies by marrying into the family) have all carried that air of statement-making opulence. But even the most expensive wedding gown in the first family will fail to stand the test of time if it relies on passing trends rather than timeless design elements.
All brides are mesmerizing on their special day, but from a style perspective, the Trump wedding dresses that stood out the most to us are those that drew influence from classic fashion. Some individuality and incorporation of a contemporary edge is fine, but gowns like those worn by Marla Maples and her daughter, Tiffany Trump, highlighted bridal details that will never go out of style, whether it's a silk finish or a refined princess silhouette.
Now, no one can say that the first lady's bridal gown wasn't memorable, but spoiler alert: it didn't make our list. Melania Trump's most dramatic 2000s outfits all had tons of ruffles in common, and her extravagant wedding gown was no exception, as it leaned less classic and more billionaire maximalist. It did make our list of first lady wedding dresses that left people scratching their heads, if that helps. Contrastingly, the brides on our best wedding dresses list all nailed the timeless brief to some extent, but those who had clearly prioritized that ageless feel ranked the highest.
4. Marla Maples went for an ageless design with '90s trimmings
In December 1993, two months after welcoming daughter Tiffany Trump, Donald Trump and Marla Maples tied the knot. For the occasion, model and actor Maples went for an off-the-shoulder silk gown by Carolina Herrera. Unlike many dresses of the early '90s and late '80s, Maples' bridal frock seemed to be quite minimalist from the front. The pretty portrait neckline and slim fit of the dress itself are classic elements that you could find in bridal fashion of any decade. Similarly, silk has been a universal fabric choice for brides throughout the ages. At first glance, this dress actually looks remarkably similar to the Givenchy gown Meghan Markle wore for her 2018 nuptials to Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, 25 years later.
That said, the extravagant veil and train, not to mention the tiara that was reportedly worth $2 million at the time, made this look feel more grounded in the era's pomp. The sparkling headgear in particular was a staple of the decade, a trend which might have been influenced by Princess Diana herself during her 1981 wedding. Maples' look also featured satin shoes, which feel quintessentially '90s.
The opulent elements of Maples' dress seemed to match the details of the celebration; the Trumps cut a seven-tier wedding cake and indulged in caviar, lamb, turkey, and smoked fish. While the Plaza Hotel festivities in one of New York City's most highly coveted locations might have been the stuff of legends, the marriage itself wasn't built to last. The pair had finalized their divorce by 1999, and Marla Maples' post-split style transformation showed that she was taking a step back from the lavish life for a more down-to-earth aesthetic.
3. Lara Trump's dress was timeless with a dash of personality
In November 2014, Lara Yunaska joined the Trump family when she married Donald Trump's second son Eric Trump at the billionaire's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. Like many modern brides of a certain social class, she switched dresses halfway through, but her initial Vera Wang gown was a neat blend of classic elements and Lara's own creativity and personality.
"It was the first dress that I tried on and actually felt like a bride," she told People not long after the wedding. "I knew that I needed a dress that would be seen from even the farthest guest's viewpoint!" The strapless number featured a tight-fitting corset bodice with a full skirt, which brought volume to the silhouette in the traditional princess style, but wasn't quite at the ballgown level. The skin-clinging bodice and wider skirt is a traditional and classic form that we'll continue to see on brides over the decades, but Lara made the dress her own with playful tiered frills that draped down one side of her skirt. She was definitely one of the celebrities who stunned in a Vera Wang gown! "Lara is a stunning bride! I couldn't be happier to share this special weekend with her and Eric," Ivanka Trump, who provided Lara's jewelry from her own collection, commented to People. The bridal moment was a milestone in Lara Trump's complete transformation.
At the reception, Lara ditched her princess-esque gown in favor of a more form-fitting dress from Inbal Dror by Mark Ingram Atelier. This one was lace with a mermaid silhouette and super-feminine bow embellishments on the shoulder straps. Lara seemed to lean in to the bohemian aesthetic by tying her loose waves into a messy braid for the dress change.
2. Tiffany Trump's Elie Saab dress was inspired by bridal staples, not trends
Nearly 30 years after her parents got hitched in December 1993, it was Tiffany Trump's turn to walk down the aisle. She wed business executive Michael Boulos at her father's Mar-a-Lago estate in a dazzling gown that even critics of the Trump family have praised. When asked to name their favorite celebrity wedding dress, one Redditor admitted, "Debby Ryan or Tiffany Trump's ceremony dress (it pains me to praise anything connected to a Trump but it's beautiful)."
The embellished gown from Elie Saab (who was reportedly a favorite of Marla Maples) had a modest ballet neckline and tapered waist, which gave the look a classic feel rather than a quintessentially 2020s vibe. The princess ballgown silhouette was there, without the bodice being overly tight or corset-like. To complement the intricate beading on nearly every inch of the dress, Tiffany toned down her beauty game (she probably doesn't need our ultimate guide to bridal makeup!), and carried a simple bouquet of lilies. The sweeping train and veil and excessive pearl beading took this gorgeous look from timeless bridal into fairytale territory, meaning we might see it in generations to come, but probably in the upper echelons of society only. Still, it's one of the unconventional celebrity wedding gowns that left a mark on us — in a good way.
Like her sister-in-law, Tiffany mixed and matched her bridal dresses for the various events of her wedding. For the rehearsal dinner, she was spotted in a less extravagant white strapless gown, this time with pearls around the waist and a corset top. Then after the ceremony, she swapped her beaded Elie Saab masterpiece for a satin gown with a sweetheart neckline.
1. Ivanka Trump's Grace Kelly-inspired dress was a winner
A former presidential advisor to her father, Ivanka Trump has divided public opinion. But the Vera Wang wedding dress she wore for her October 2009 wedding to Jared Kushner was a standout look not just in the Trump family, but in celebrity bridal history. The first daughter's delicate gown was inspired by Grace Kelly, featuring an intricate lace overlay and a slim (but not tight) fit.
At first glance, Ivanka's dress seemed less extravagant than those worn by other women in the Trump family. The train was considerably shorter, and the skirt had less volume. But the beauty's in the details. The detailed lacework brought an otherwise simple dress to life and made it feel timeless. While the silhouette and cut of the gown gave a modest feeling, which perhaps helped to create that classic aesthetic, this bridal look was still every bit as opulent as you'd expect from a Trump. Ivanka, who got married at the Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey rather than at Mar-a-Lago, reportedly wore $220,000 worth of diamonds from her own collection, with her statement diamond earrings alone being worth $130,000. Just the accessories make this one of Ivanka Trump's most expensive outfits.
Ivanka's fashion sense is clearly inspired by vintage icons. Not only did she request that Vera Wang use Grace Kelly's lace gown for her 1956 wedding to Prince Rainier III of Monaco as inspiration, but she also wore a dress closely inspired by the actor-turned-princess to sister Tiffany Trump's 2022 wedding, where she served as matron of honor. She also paid tribute to Audrey Hepburn at the 2025 Liberty Inauguration Ball in her stunning floral ballgown. Perhaps holding these past idols in her style periphery is the very thing that keeps Ivanka's wardrobe timeless.
