Meghan Markle's Chartreuse Dress At A 2026 Netflix Event Lacked Her Usual Polish
When it comes to fashion, Meghan Markle has a history of dressing in esteemed outfits that people all over the world have wanted to replicate. But even within Meghan Markle's stunning style transformation, there have been a few blunders. The Duchess of Sussex suffered a fashion fail yet again when she attended an event held by Netflix, the platform on which her 2025 lifestyle series "With Love, Meghan" can be viewed. During the get-together of A-listers on April 10, 2026, who gathered to celebrate the upcoming season of "Beef," Markle donned a big smile while her long dark tresses cascaded down her torso. However, her winning features couldn't make up for the chartreuse-colored atrocity that she wore to the party.
Markle chose to wear a sleeveless yellow-green Heidi Merrick dress that was made of boring, poorly tailored fabric. The top entirely lacked shape and drooped over her chest before awkwardly cutting off around her midriff. The skirt included thin seams that were sewn at various points to create levels of tiers. Most of the seams (including the hemline) puckered, looking crooked and giving off a sloppy appearance. Down the side was a jet black zipper outline which awkwardly drew the eye as it contrasted the shiny chartreuse. The cut of the arm holes was oversized, making it look like a nip-slip could happen at any second. If nothing else, this overly relaxed silhouette is proof that Meghan Markle is free from royal style rules, which we also saw days later with her "inappropriate" Australia trip 'fit.
Was Meghan Markle sending a message with the color of her dress?
Meghan Markle's chartreuse dress was a failed attempt to make an evening gown seem playful and fun. It's hard to figure out what Markle thought was pleasing about the unbecoming garment, but her insistence on a chartreuse color scheme may have been intentional. Most of the other guests at the Netflix event were dressed in neutral tones, especially standard black. Actor Carey Mulligan, who stars in the upcoming season of Netflix's "Beef," was the only other attendee photographed in a vibrant color of green. Did the duchess purposefully wear a bright hue, similar to that of the only other person wearing a pop of color, to stand out among a sea of black wardrobe?
Page Six was told by a source that there was "no dress code related to color" at the event, even though most attendees appeared to have an unspoken pact to wear understated black clothing to the gathering. Meanwhile, Markle's only use of neutrals was a pair of brown sandals, which felt too casual when paired with her colorful dress.
Chartreuse is already tricky to pull off as it looks better when it's reserved to accents (chartreuse is a wonderful bright and bold color for accessories, though). Instead of going for a crisp, classy tone like Mulligan's pear-green outfit, Markle was left looking like a decayed yellow piece of fruit thanks to the specifics of this particular shade. One X user commented, "[How come] this isn't all over the media!! Her showing up dressed exactly like the [event's] lead actress ..." It's certainly easy to spot Markle in photos from the party as her reflective gown caught the light. So if that was her plan all along, she was successful.
