In April 2026, People confirmed that Plaza is expecting her first child with boyfriend Christopher Abbott, and in a "SmartLess" podcast episode released later that month, the "Parks and Recreation" star explained that she's always been curious about motherhood. "I've always wanted to see what that's all about, you know?" she said of becoming a mom. "It just seems so interesting, that whole thing."

Plaza first met her current boyfriend and baby daddy when filming the 2020 film "Black Bear," though she and Abbott didn't make their first public appearance until shortly after confirming the pregnancy.
