Queen Camilla's Best Trooping The Colour Outfits Over The Years

The British royal family's official calendar is jam-packed, but one of the most highly anticipated annual events is the Trooping the Colour ceremony. The military parade, which is held each June to celebrate the sovereign's birthday, comprises of soldiers, musicians, and members of the royal family traveling from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guard's Parade in the London borough of Westminster. A magnificently colorful Royal Airforce fly-past marks the end of the festivities, but if we're being honest, we tune in with one thing in mind: the fashion. Since marrying into the Firm in 2005, Queen Camilla has worn a steady stream of head-turning outfits to the parade each June. While not all of those were showstoppers for the right reasons, she has served up several 'fits that looked wonderful on her.

As the queen consort married to King Charles III, Camilla naturally has plenty of royal dressing rules and traditions to abide by. Even in the years that she attended the parade as the Duchess of Cornwall, she still had to look equal parts lavish and respectable. A clear pattern emerges when you compare her looks each year: she loves a a monochrome moment with a coat and dress, and none of her outfits are complete without a headpiece — most frequently in the form of Philip Treacy hats.

Camilla tends to stick to muted, inoffensive tones at the Trooping the Colour ceremony. Unlike her predecessor Queen Elizabeth II, who wore monochromatic bright colors to stand out in a crowd, Camilla prefers to blend in and complement her sovereign husband rather than outshine him. But our favorite looks from the new queen make smaller statements in their details, whether it's intricate embroidery, a brooch with a deeper meaning, or an unexpected texture that takes a look from boring to stylish.

Queen Camilla looked crisp in white in 2025

One of Queen Camilla's very best Trooping the Color outfits was the white coat and dress she donned in 2025. During her third ceremony as the queen consort, she wore a silk crepe frock from Anna Valentine, which was adorned with silver embroidery, and finished off the look with a summery icy-blue and white hat from Philip Treacy. The standout piece of this ensemble, at least for those in the know, was her Grenadier Guards brooch, which was given to Camilla's late mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, in 1942.

Mint was a winner for Queen Camilla in 2019

While the late Queen Elizabeth II was known for wearing bright colors, Queen Camilla tends to stick more to neutrals and subdued tones. However, she followed in her mother-in-law's footsteps in 2019, reaching for a mint dress and coat by Bruce Oldfield. The outfit featured intricate white embroidery which matched the floral detail on her Philip Treacy hat. While we love quieter shades on the queen, she pulled off this more saturated tone well. We might have to get her tips for infusing more color into our wardrobes.

Queen Camilla looked lovely in pastel blue in 2024

2024 was one such year when Queen Camilla looked beautiful in a slightly quieter palette at the Trooping the Colour event, appearing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in a subtle icy blue. The silk crepe coat and dress were once again from her go-to designer Anna Valentine, while she brought out her recyled Philip Treacy hat again. This time, she completed the look with a statement four-strand pearl choker necklace, pearl drop earrings, and her Grenadier Guards military brooch.

2010 was as close as Queen Camilla is ever getting to Barbie

We don't expect Queen Camilla to channel Barbie any time soon, but the closest she came was at the Trooping the Colour ceremony in 2010. Still the Duchess of Cornwall at the time, she appeared in a pink-toned look that featured a light pink coat with a more saturated hat. The future queen accessorized with her trusty pearl-drop earrings and a standout five-strand pearl choker that created synchronicity with a dazzling pink gemstone in the middle. "Fun" probably doesn't appear too often on the Buckingham Palace fashion brief, but this 'fit definitely served that energy.

The headpiece brought an unexpected twist to Queen Camilla's 2008 look

Queen Camilla loves a hat for Trooping the Color. But she changed it up in 2008, when she instead chose a bold floral headpiece in a similar pale-green tone to her coat. The pink petals of the flowers in her headpiece brought this entire look to life, contrasting beautifully with the muted base color. Camilla went hard on the flowery theme that year, donning the Lily of the Valley Brooch that was gifted to the queen mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, in 1956 by the Soviet Union's Nikita Khrushchev.

Butter yellow suited Queen Camilla well in 2017

If anything, Queen Camilla's best Trooping the Colour looks over the years show that you can liven up any outfit with accessories and small details. The butter-yellow coat and dress look she wore to the ceremony in 2017 might have been a yawn-fest if it weren't for the little things, like her Van Cleef and Arpels Cosmos brooches. Her hat also signaled a departure from its signature floral motif, and the collar of her dress was beaded for added interest.

Queen Camilla honored her military role in 2023

In December 2022, the yet-to-be-crowned King Charles III transferred the prestigious title of the Colonel of the Grenadier Guards from his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, to Queen Camilla. As her first Trooping the Colour carrying that title, Camilla decided to honor her position in 2023 by wearing a crimson Fiona Clare coat dress, gold epaulettes that signified her military rank, and a Philip Treacy hat that channeled the bearskin hats famously donned by the Grenadier Guards. Props to the queen for her respectful homage, along with the creativity and courage it took to step out of her comfort zone.

Textured blue brought a change to Queen Camilla's standard wardrobe in 2018

The 2018 Trooping the Colour ceremony wasn't the first time that Queen Camilla wore blue on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, but she did shake things up a little with some textural changes that year. Her silk dress and coat by Bruce Oldfield was a more saturated blue, but it also appeared to have a snakeskin-like surface, which was totally new for a senior member of the royal family. Her snakeskin clutch tonally worked well with the 'fit, but was also the perfect accompaniment to the scaly finish of the coat.

Queen Camilla's 'fit in 2022 was fresh and summery

2022 brought both joy and sadness for the royal family, marking Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee and also the year of her death. It was the queen's last Trooping the Colour, and for the monumental occasion, Queen Camilla, then the Duchess of Cornwall, twinned with her mother-in-law in tones of lilac. Camilla's coat had a completely different silhouette from her usual style, featuring pinstripes that gave the aesthetic a light, airy, and summery feel. Seriously, she's one outfit change away from joining our list of stylish royals that should be on your radar.

Queen Camilla switched up her hat style in 2013

In 2013, Queen Camilla brought out a pale-yellow coat and dress that was reminiscent of her standard Trooping the Colour image, but for two details. The statement hat featured a rounded design rather than her usual floral dynamic, and the sleeves and collar of her coat had a metallic silver pattern that made this look stand out. As usual, Camilla rocked her four-strand pearl choker and pearl-drop earrings to give the ensemble a lavish feel, and altogether, this was a winner in our book.

Now that we've seen Camilla's best, let's revisit the worst looks from the Trooping the Colour ceremony over the years
