'An Honor To Earn Every Single [Laugh] Line': Drew Barrymore Isn't Apologizing For Aging Naturally
Whether deliberately or not, Drew Barrymore has become one of the faces of the natural aging movement in Hollywood. Over the years, the actor has spoken about choosing to see getting older as a privilege, an especially impressive take for a former child star who has been on the limelight since she was 6 years old, when she filmed "E.T." Still, more women in and outside of Hollywood seem to be right there with Barrymore, unburdened by the pressure to try so desperately to hold on to their youth.
The "50 First Dates" star posted a video to her Instagram account in May 2026 with a caption that read, "It has been such an honor to earn every single line I have on my face!!!!" The quick video montage starts with a close-up shot of Barrymore in glasses with overlaid text reading, "Of course I have lines on my face ..." Later shots showing Barrymore laughing got tagged with, "This is what my life looks like." Fans praised her for keeping it real and living out loud unapologetically. One user wrote, "Thank you for embracing yourself so that other women can see what it looks like." These side-by-side pics of Drew Barrymore prove she's aging like fine wine, and the best part is that she's doing it her own way.
Barrymore proves there's no wrong way to age
While Drew Barrymore is embracing natural aging, she's still holding onto her signature brunette locks. Will she don the gray soon? On her talk show back in March 2026, Barrymore invited celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton on to give Valerie Bertinelli a makeover. Barrymore ended up getting fit with a custom-dyed, softly layered gray wig that looked stunning. Here's the thing, Barrymore's gray hair transformation fit her so well, we wish it wasn't a wig. If she ever decides to let her signature brunette locks go silver for real at some point in the future, we'd be totally here for it.
Barrymore would be among some serious A-list celebrities who proudly show off their gray hair like Helen Mirren, Andie MacDowell, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jane Fonda. Fonda said on The Ellen Show in 2021, "I tell you, I'm so happy I let it go gray. Enough already with so much time wasted, so much money spent, so many chemicals ... I'm through with that." Still, there's no wrong way to age. Everyone should do their thing, whether that looks like getting Botox, hitting the salon every six weeks, or letting those fine lines and natural tresses rock.
