'It's Giving UPS Driver': Rihanna Declared This Look One Of Her Worst-Dressed Moments
Rihanna rarely misses when it comes to her fashion and beauty choices. Don't believe us? Just see the stunning style transformation of Rihanna — the singer tops our list of celebrities who turn out look after look on a consistent basis. Even so, she's not immune to wearer's remorse and she said as much in a 2024 Vogue red-carpet interview. When asked if she regretted anything she wore in the past, she referenced the outfit she wore at the time of the interview and said "It was something similar to this, which is kind of ironic. It was a brown tan suit that we all loved so much, but the day we put it on I was like, 'Mmm, it's giving UPS driver,' and that is not cute. Not for the red carpet anyways."
Rihanna wore the suit in question while out in New York at a Parsons benefit in 2017. As you can see, it's a beige oversized jacket and pants that are baggy, but not too unflattering. Everyone is certainly allowed to have regrets about their past outfit choices, but we definitely think Rihanna was being too hard on herself here. This outfit isn't one of the worst we've seen by a mile (see the worst-dressed celebs at the 2026 Golden Globes for some examples).
Rihanna is known more for her fashion hits rather than her misses
Rihanna has been through many different phases when it comes to her overall look and style. The stunning hair transformation of Rihanna really proves it, and she's always been pretty confident in her choices — the tan suit regret was out of the norm for her. Normally, the singer and business mogul seems to love what she wears and is praised endlessly for her edgy personal style. In a 2014 Vogue interview, she described her casual-cool aesthetic in detail. "It's fierce," she said, referring to an oversized jacket. "You can do anything with a great jacket, the bigger the better. You can have any silhouette underneath. It gives you an attitude. It makes a gown look cool," she continued. "I love baggy things. I wear men's clothes, men's shoes, oxfords, creepers."
Designers and stylists alike also love dressing Rihanna. Stylist and editor-in-chief of Interview Magazine Mel Ottenberg said in a 2024 Interview cover story that Rihanna rarely ever misses in the fashion department. When recalling the first time he saw a music video of hers, he remembered thinking, "The way she wears fashion is transcending something. I want to work with her." Other designers like Tom Ford also had endless praise for Rihanna, telling Vogue in 2014 that she's a muse to many. "She can throw on combinations you can't imagine other people could possibly wear, and look great," he said. "In the fashion world she has inspired a very, very loose mix of random items."
