Isla Fisher Feared Turning 50 - Until It Actually Happened (& We Love The Switch-Up)

There are so many celebrities embracing their age now, and we love to see it. For starters, Drew Barrymore isn't sorry for aging naturally and has been very vocal about it. We also can't forget about all the celebrities who proudly show off their gray hair. Embracing healthy aging is becoming the standard more and more — it's refreshing, to say the least. Actor Isla Fisher is another one joining the ranks.

She admitted to New Beauty in an April 2026 interview that initially she was less than enthusiastic about the idea of turning 50, but now that she's actually reached that age, she's completely changed her tune. "The minute it [turning 50] happened, I loved it," the actor said. "I'm so proud to be my age. I'm so much more confident. I don't want to compare myself to a younger version of myself. I'm just so happy with where I am."

Fisher is fully aware of how much things have changed, noting that, in the past, women were made to feel that their best years were their youngest. "But I feel like that's actually changing — we get to question the rules now!" the actor emphasized. Fisher also spoke about the perspective she's gained as she's aged. "I think aging shifts the way you think about yourself," she said, "something less external and something more internal. And that's a more sustainable place to be."

Isla Fisher embraces her age and it shows in her beauty routine

Isla Fisher's newfound confidence around aging shows in more ways than one. The actor also admitted to People in April 2026 that she applies her carefree attitude to her beauty and wellness routine as well. "I'm basically the laziest person in beauty that you'll ever meet," she shared. "I'm not particularly a hyper-disciplined person. I'm not going to go on a cleanse. I'm not going to work out every day. I'm not going to do green juices and infrared saunas." This is why the actor also recently became an ambassador for It Cosmetics. Partnering with the brand fits with her low-maintenance vibe, and it's relatively affordable, which she loves.

She also appreciates that the company doesn't perpetuate an old, tired beauty standard. "[The brand is] a celebration of women as we are, not as we're told to be," she continued. "And why shouldn't it be accessible? It's inclusive ... It's creating opportunities for women to feel good at different price points, and it's not exclusive that way." Not only has Fisher embraced her age, but she's also spreading the message to help other women feel better in their skin, and that's something we love to see.
