Pattie Boyd Showed Off Her Trendy Style On 1966 Honeymoon With George Harrison

Former English model and photographer Pattie Boyd was known as a major musical muse of the 1960s. She famously married George Harrison in February 1966, and the duo fast became an iconic couple of the London music scene. While she was mostly celebrated for inspiring songs like The Beatles' "Something" and later Eric Clapton's "Layla," we can't forget about her stunning style moments during that era. Being the muse that she was, her fashion choices can compete with even the best celeb outfits from the 60s that define the era's style

Most notably, Boyd had many standout looks while on her honeymoon in Barbados with Harrison shortly after they tied the knot. The above photo was taken of the two boarding their private plane at London Airport right before they left for their newly coupled adventure, and Boyd's airport uniform is anything but basic. Her mod black and white pinstriped top and crisp skirt gave serious cool-girl energy. She completed the look with a pair of white hoop earrings and a slouchy black bucket bag that we can't get enough of. The whole aesthetic was perfect for the spring-summer season and a great start to her honeymoon, fashion-wise.

Pattie Boyd's modern approach to fashion was so on-trend

There are plenty of 1960s-inspired fashion trends making a comeback, and we can almost guarantee Pattie Boyd had a part in starting many of them. Boyd was at the forefront of the mod movement, crediting legendary British designer Mary Quant for her unconventional celebrity wedding dress (pictured above). "I bought a Mary Quant pinky-red shot-silk dress, which came to just above the knee, and I wore it with creamy stockings and pointy red shoes," she said in her autobiography "Wonderful Tonight." "On top, because it was January and cold, I wore a red fox-fur coat, also by Mary Quant, that George gave me. She made George a beautiful black Mongolian lamb coat."

Later, Boyd's beach outfit while on her honeymoon in Barbados was arguably even more modern than her wedding look. She wore a two-toned tank top, biker shorts, and a white bucket hat while out in the ocean with Harrison. Boyd proved that she wasn't interested in following outdated style rules — she even shared with Vogue in 2019 that America was slower to embrace women's newfound fashion freedom. "When we arrived in New York ... it was so glamorous, and so fabulous, and we loved it until we realized we weren't allowed to go into the dining wearing trousers," she explained. "And I said, 'Even Mary Quant's trousers? This is ridiculous!' I think they really meant jeans, but [America] was very puritanical in those days."
