What The Leading Ladies Of Grease Look Like These Days
The 1978 hit "Grease" is one of the most enduring movie musicals of all time. This campy flick served as a perfect parody of the 1950s, and gave us chart-topping hits like "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and "You're the One That I Want" that are still just as fun to listen to today as they were at the time of their release. Much of the iconic movie's cast went on to enjoy successful careers in the industry. "Grease" is largely cited as one of the films that skyrocketed John Travolta to A-list actor status and put British-Australian singer Olivia Newton-John on the map in a big way. Newton-John's performance as "good girl" Sandy endeared her to international audiences, cementing her legacy as a star. In the years following "Grease," Newton-John changed quite a bit.
While Sandy's transformation from clean-cut to greaser girl is one of the most well-known aspects of "Grease," Newton-John's transformation is discussed way less. Prior to her passing in 2022, the actor wore her iconic blond locks in a wavy bob to the 2020 G'Day USA gala. Her radiant complexion remained largely the same, continuing to charm audiences decades after her era of pop culture dominance in the '70s and '80s. The "Physical" singer continued acting after "Grease," lending her talents to films like "Xanadu" and "Two of a Kind." Off camera, Newton-John funded breast cancer research efforts while battling the illness herself for over 30 years. Even though Olivia Newton-John's love life was filled with high highs and low lows, she found happiness with John Easterling, to whom she was married from 2008 until her death. After "Grease," Newton-John went on to have a full life and successful career — just like her Pink Ladies co-stars.
Stockard Channing is still rocking Rizzo's iconic brown curls
Like John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing's career took off after 1978's "Grease." Channing's performance as Rizzo, the snarky yet lovable leader of the Pink Ladies, charmed audiences and Hollywood casting directors alike. The actor, who turned 82 in 2026, keeps her iconic dark curls. While she has experimented with blond in the past — rocking a choppy blond bixie cut, one of the most iconic hairstyles in the '90s – her appearance at the opening night celebration of the Broadway play "Apologia" in 2018 saw her with brunette waves.
Since "Grease," Channing has seen incredible success. She received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her performance in "Six Degrees of Separation" in 1994, as well as two Primetime Emmy awards, one Tony award, and two Screen Actors Guild awards. While Channing is perhaps best known for her work in "Grease," she has certainly grown as a performer (both in theater and on-screen) in the decades after the film's release.
Didi Conn is easily recognizable as Frenchy today
Looking at a modern picture of Didi Conn, it is easy to see the Frenchy still in her. Conn starred as one of the Pink Ladies; her memorable role as the sweetest girl of the group — who tried to integrate Olivia Newton-John's Sandy into their clique — allowed audiences to connect with her in the story. Conn, who turned 74 in 2025, can be recognized for her charming smile alone, which hasn't changed much over the years. Instead of Frenchy's red ringlets, Conn wore her naturally brown hair in a short bob with fringe bangs to the Cirque du Soleil premiere of "Totem" in 2019.
Conn continued her career in Hollywood in the years following "Grease." In fact, she was the only cast member to reprise their role in the loosely-connected 1982 sequel, "Grease 2." Since then, she has shifted her focus to television rather than film — Conn has appeared in episodes of "Blue Bloods," "Overcompensating," "Elsbeth," and Hulu's "Best Medicine."
Jamie Donnelly has aged beautifully in the years since she portrayed Jan
Jamie Donnelly's role as Pink Ladies member Jan was instantly iconic, making her one of the fans' most beloved characters. Like her "Grease" co-star Stockard Channing, this actor has maintained a strong presence in the world of theater over the years. Donnelly turned 79 in 2026, and contrary to many '80 stars who are unrecognizable now, she looks remarkably the same as she did in "Grease," having aged wonderfully. Instead of Jan's dark brown waves, Donnelly was spotted rocking a full head of thick white hair at the 2018 STL Pop Culture Convention.
In the years before and after "Grease," Donnelly built a career on stage. She starred as Jan in the "Grease" Broadway show, and originated the roles of Magenta and the Usherette in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." In addition to her theater credits, Donnelly has appeared in many television shows and movies since "Grease," with projects like the films "Better Half" and "Stationed at Home."
Dinah Manoff has changed quite a bit since her role as Marty
While Dinah Manoff has stayed out of the spotlight over the past several years, we've gotten to see small glimpses of the actor, director, and writer. Manoff portrayed Marty, the most stylish (and promiscuous) Pink Lady, in "Grease." While her role was relatively small compared to the other Pink Ladies, Manoff's performance was still incredible. Looking at the most recent pictures of Manoff available, we noticed that her appearance has changed since "Grease"; unlike Marty's short curls, an older Manoff wears her brown hair in a layered bob with flipped ends, as seen in her appearance at the Jewish Image Awards in 2002. The actor, who turned 70 in 2026, was also spotted wearing small, dark-framed glasses, which definitely contribute to her stark post-"Grease" transformation.
In the 1980s, Manoff starred in multiple well-received films, including "Child's Play," the screen adaptation of "I Ought to Be in Pictures," and "Ordinary People." Like her "Grease" co-stars Jamie Donnelly and Stockard Channing, Manoff enjoyed a successful career on Broadway. In fact, Manoff won a Tony Award for her role in the original stage version of "I Ought to Be in Pictures." She found success on the small screen, starring in the long-running sitcom "Empty Nest" from 1988 to 1995.
