What Legendary '60s Model Twiggy Looks Like Now
Twiggy (real name Lesley Hornby) is arguably one of the most iconic models to come out of the 1960s. Some might even say that she's still one of fashion's most influential figures today. In particular, Twiggy's makeup evolution has been a sight to behold. Many know her for her infamous "doll eye" look, where she often wore three pairs of false lashes on the top and bottom of her eyes. If you're wondering what Hornby looks like now, she's as radiant as ever.
The above photo was taken in October 2025. Now 76 years old, the former supermodel still loves playing up her eyes, sporting blue eyeliner and a bit of eye shadow that really makes them pop. It's nice to see that her willingness to be playful hasn't changed much over the years. What has changed, however, is her hair; she ditched the iconic pixie in favor of long bangs and shoulder-length ends.
Twiggy's legendary status ignited the day she decided to get her dramatically short haircut, since it became the model's signature look and ultimately catapulted her to fame. The man behind the 'do, Leonard Lewis, shared with Dazed in 2008 what it was like to essentially give Hornby her career-defining cut. "It was a radical step for Twiggs, because, like most girls, she was fond of her long hair, and at one point she seemed close to tears," he said. "But I knew it would show off her boyish looks — and no boy had eyes or a neck quite like hers. Later she said, 'Looking in the mirror at the back, I saw all these faces staring at me, in a way that no one had ever done before.'"
Twiggy's beauty philosophy has evolved over the years
There are plenty of OG supermodels that you probably wouldn't recognize today, but Twiggy isn't one of them. Her distinct style and gorgeous features still stand out in the best possible way. While many of her early colorful and unique makeup looks will live rent-free in our minds forever, Lesley Hornby herself has talked about how much she's evolved over the years, especially in the beauty department.
The former model and actor told the Guardian in 2016 that she can actually shower, get dressed, and do her makeup in 30 minutes — super impressive. "My main makeup thing is my eyes. When I was discovered in the ['60s], it was all about false eyelashes and I used to draw on what became known as 'twigs' under the eyes. I haven't worn false eyelashes for 30 years but I do like my smoky eyes." Hornby also admitted that unlike in her earlier modeling days, she's no longer a big lipstick person. She'll reach for a few neutral pinks but that's about it. While she has evolved past her iconic pixie, Twiggy has found her sweet spot with bangs and has stuck with them ever since: "Fringes are flattering and I've had a full fringe since the late ['80s] when I was coming up to my forties."
What hasn't changed, though, is Twiggy's unique style. She also shared with the Guardian that unlike her beauty routine, her overall fashion choices have stayed the same over the years. She still enjoys a good pair of skinny jeans or an unexpected tuxedo every now and then. Sure, she's no longer sporting mod staples, but her bold fashion ethos and the way she nails androgynous dressing is as strong as ever.
