Laurie Metcalf's 2018 Emmys Dress Remains One Of Her Chicest Looks
There are so many celebrity red carpet looks from the past that we still think about today. For starters, we can think of at least seven underrated awards show looks from the '80s that deserve to be remembered forever. More recently, though, we got to thinking about one of actor Laurie Metcalf's most iconic outfits to date. The "Roseanne" star is known for turning out look after look — whether that's in the fashion or beauty department. In fact, Laurie Metcalf's 2026 Tony Awards dress stunned, but her gray hair transformation really stole the show. The look that we ultimately want to highlight here, though, is her 2018 Emmy Awards dress, because it was a sight to see.
The actor stepped onto the carpet wearing a white Badgley Mishka dress from the S/S 2019 collection for this particular awards show. The deep V-cut of the neckline and cinched waist give the dress such a flattering shape, and the blush-colored floral design on the front is also incredibly elegant and not the slightest bit overdone. She topped the look off with simple fashion accessories that made a statement, including a white clutch and teardrop earrings for extra understated glamour.
Surprisingly, Laurie Metcalf isn't a self-proclaimed fashion girlie
Unsurprisingly, Laurie Metcalf is extremely down-to-earth in her approach to stardom. She once told The Washington Post in 2018 that she doesn't even have a publicist. What is surprising, however, is that she considers fashion a simple byproduct of her career. "[Stylist is] a word I never thought would come out of my mouth," she told The Post. "They knew that they had to get me one. They did not trust me at all to put myself together."
While yes, her stunning red carpet looks are usually the work of a stylist, she seems to appear so at home in each outfit that we were also surprised to learn just how down-to-earth she is when it comes to fashion. Metcalf has revealed that her favorite place to shop for clothes is Target, and the actor asserts that she would take jeans, tennis shoes, and a sweater over a red carpet gown any day of the week. Even so, we can thank her stylist (and Metcalf's unerring confidence) for giving us fashion Pinterest board inspiration for days.
