Supermodel Kate Upton's Red Carpet Comeback Gives Taylor Swift Vibes In The Best Way

Before the first pitch was thrown at the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, the athletes and the WAGs who love them strutted the red carpet. Kate Upton, wife of Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander, was among them with their adorable kiddos, reminding anyone who has forgotten that she's not just a WAG. She's also a top model. Upton doesn't hit the red carpet often, and so heads turned when she showed up draped in a super slinky minidress that was as sultry as it was glamorous. But, wait, doesn't that little white dress look familiar? That might be because Upton's dress is nearly identical to the red outfit that Taylor Swift wore to the 2025 Grammy Awards.

It's not actually the same dress, but we wouldn't blame you if you thought otherwise. Swift's version is ruby-colored in sparkle, and it was designed by Vivienne Westwood. We don't have the deets on Upton's dress yet, but we're spotting some key differences. First, while Swift's featured one shoulder, Upton's is off the shoulder completely, with one strap hanging gingerly on her upper arm. Plus, the bodice of Swift's frock is corseted, and Upton's dress seems to lack that internal structure for a fit that's figure-hugging but still flowing. 

Upton landed among the worst-dressed attendees at the 2026 ESPY Awards, which took place the following day. But this cheeky little minidress from the All-Star Game was a home run. The stunning style transformation of Taylor Swift has been one to watch, and, lately, the pop star seems to be leaning into a sexy Old Hollywood aesthetic. The model must've gotten the memo.

Kate Upton's MLB All-Star dress isn't the first time she has been caught twinning with Taylor Swift. Swift is, of course, a regular on the Grammys red carpet, often rocking looks guaranteed to garner headlines. Back in February 2015, she showed up to the 57th annual ceremony donning an ombre Elie Saab ball gown that turned her into an ethereal sight of aqua and teal. The look was made even more special with the addition of funky straps and an open back.

When Upton walked the carpet at the 37th annual Footwear News Achievement Awards in November 2023, the model donned a black Valentino gown that oozed old money sophistication — and was pretty close to Swift's Grammys look. Full ballgown skirt? check. Open back? Yep. Cool straps? We see them. Pockets, too? Uncanny. Both women nailed it and infused their own energies into each look. We're loving the juxtaposition of Swift's signature punk-rock bob against the dreamy dress, and if we're using Upton's hairstyle from this night as evidence, we're sure she could offer us all some easy tips for rocking the beachy S-wave look.
