The Worst-Dressed Celebs At The 2026 Emmys

We've spent all year watching and talking about our favorite on-screen moments, and the 2026 Emmy Awards arrived on Monday, September 14, to dish out the trophies. Of course, we immediately honed in on the evening's fashions because Hollywood's biggest stars walk the Emmys red carpet each year, showcasing splendid looks that are sure to leave us swooning. Another time-honored Emmys tradition? Truly wild fashion misses that leave us scratching our heads.

If the 2026 Emmys had a worst-dressed theme à la the Met Gala, it'd have to be "Poorly Fitted Fashion: Too Much Fabric." We saw whacky draping and shoddy fabric manipulation all over the place this year. A million bows to everyone's wonderful on-screen work, but, style obsessives that we are, we've got to try to make sense of the worst looks at the 2026 Emmys, from Lena Hall to Ciara Miller and Shailene Woodley.

Abby Elliott attended the 2026 Emmys draped in a corseted Erdem gown that we didn't love as much as her performance in "The Bear." First, the color combo felt drab. To be sure, the champagne bodice was pretty on its own, and it fit nicely. However, the hue washed her out and didn't work with the pink skirt, which was wrinkled in a way that doesn't feel intentional. It looked like it was haphazardly gathered and tied with a random red ribbon in the two minutes before she hit the carpet. We simply wish the overall look were more polished.

"Your Friends & Neighbors" star Lena Hall hit the 2026 Emmys red carpet in a gown that proves that the wrong fabric can really break a look because the design wasn't all that bad. The bodice bow was a little '80s prom, but it's fine. But where this look really went wrong was the satin, which wasn't the right choice for a dress that seemingly wanted to be breezy but ended up looking overworked. That said, the aquamarine color was super dreamy against her dark hair. Can you imagine this same dress but in an airy silk organza? 

Sarah Shahi showed up to the 2026 Emmys draped in a dress that was missing all the glamour and elegance that we hope to see at such a prestigious event. We love a cocktail dress on the carpet, but the one the "Paradise" star chose looked less than luxe for the event. Between the dreary sequined fabric, the poor fit, and the high slit and open back combo, the look felt more like a party dress from the early 2000s than an Emmys look for a star of one of Hulu's hottest shows. Her legs looked amazing, though. 

"Summer House" star Ciara Miller walked the carpet at the 2026 Emmys in an outfit that was more suitable for a weekend in the Hamptons than for television's biggest night. The beauty reached for an ill-fitting sequined tank top and a white satin maxi skirt with a lengthy train. The proportions of the whole look were just odd, and the muted color palette lacked any sort of oomph. Still, Miller's makeup was the epitome of soft-glam pretty, and we loved her Y2K-approved tresses, which may now join Ciara Miller's other best hair moments.

There's no shortage of times older women stole the show on 2026 red carpets, but, sadly, Dale Dickey's look at the 2026 Emmys wasn't one of those times. The "Widow's Bay" star wore a black gown that was a confusing mashup. On one hand, the jeweled corsetry detail was interesting and eye-catching, but then, it seemed the rest of the dress was forgotten. Between the overdone peplum, the too-long and too-loose skirt, and the train that was neither here nor there, the look was a mess of slapped-together fabric that swallowed Dickey up. 

Shailene Woodley's look at the 2026 Emmys was one of the star's strangest style choices yet. We're still thinking about her performance in "Paradise," but we wish we could forget about this outfit. She wore a hodgepodge of poorly styled pieces that made no sense together: The blue tank read like a too-loose one-piece swimsuit that was tucked into a pair of wide-legged pants that reminded us of Christmas decorations. We can think of a million ways to embrace the dramatic opera glove trend, but wine-colored ones with this 'fit isn't one of them.

Fiona Dourif may have been covered in fur, but the "The Pitt" star's 2026 Emmys dress wasn't one that we wanted to cozy up with. Dourif opted for a Thomas Hanisch gown and matching poncho that was covered in a layer of dark-red fur-like fabric. Instead of reading luscious and expensive like fur tends to read, this look felt stiff and uncomfortable, like it might be prickly to the touch. We can appreciate a big swing on the carpet, but this one was a miss. We do love the baby bangs, though!
