'70s Icon Jaclyn Smith Mastered Mother-Of-The-Groom Style At Her Son's Wedding
Jaclyn Smith, like her fellow "Charlie's Angels" star Cheryl Ladd, is absolutely stunning and has been since her rise to stardom in the '70s. Even on her son's wedding day in July 2023, she proved that she's still the belle of the ball by wearing a breathtaking Monique Lhuillier dress complete with feathers and sequins. It can be tricky picking out a mother-of-the-groom outfit, not wanting to look underdressed but not wanting to outdo the bride either. When it came time to celebrate her son, Gaston Richmond, getting married, Smith's gown, which she shared on Instagram, was just right.
For starters, we love the unique shade of seafoam green here. It's soft, feminine, and looks totally gorgeous on her. Feathers aren't always easy to pull off (especially when there are so many of them), but this dress strikes the perfect balance. While it does have plenty of feathers and other details, there aren't so many that it overwhelms the dress or looks too over-the-top. It's simply a charming and unique style fit for a queen. Smith opted for soft-glam makeup to go with this gown, and it really added to the elegance of the overall look.

We love that Smith wasn't afraid to repeat an outfit and took this beautiful dress out for a second round. While walking the red carpet during the Emmys, Smith had the perfect response for anyone who didn't approve of her outfit choice. "This feels like I'm in my nightgown," she shared on the carpet (via People). "I like the color. And to be very honest, I've worn this gown before. And everybody said, 'How can you do that?' And I said, 'Well, if Princess Kate can rewear something, I can rewear something,'" she asserted.
She's not wrong! Kate Middleton is a sustainable fashion queen who regularly repeats outfits, so clearly, a re-wear isn't considered the fashion sin it once was. Respect to Smith and her fashion choices. Even haters will have a tough time disagreeing that the dress looks just as gorgeous on Smith at the 2026 Emmys as it did a few years ago when she was a proud mother-of-the-groom.
