Selena Gomez Isn't Afraid Of Getting Older & Her Only Murders Co-Stars Are To Thank

Speaking to People in September 2026, the star opened up about how her "Only Murders in the Building" co-stars have inspired her to look at aging differently. "They all have families and they've lived life in a way that I never have," she shared, referring to actors Steve Martin and Martin Short. "It makes me excited to [age]. Maybe that's why I'm not afraid of getting older because people have made it look really good to me by example."

As someone who grew up in the spotlight thanks to her early fame as the lead star of the Disney hit show "Wizards of Waverly Place," Gomez has faced her fair share of negative comments over the years, but the actor-turned-singer has always remained true to herself. She was diagnosed with the chronic autoimmune disease lupus in 2013, and since then, she has shed light on the impact it can have on one's well-being. In fact, in December 2025, Selena Gomez went without makeup and used the criticism to make an important point.

Now in her mid-30s, Selena Gomez is all about speaking up against any negativity. While some have focused on the changes in the "Same Old Love" singer's appearance, Gomez has stressed that looking different at different stages of life is completely natural. "I got to be honest, the 2016 throwbacks and all of it is so much fun, but people get really intense. I always make this joke where I think people want to freeze me in time to that period of my life," she shared with People.

Even though the star still loves a full glam look, in recent years Gomez has often been spotted rocking simple makeup and hair.
