Sara Rowell From American Primeval Is So Beautiful In Real Life
If you have a penchant for western dramas like 'Yellowstone" and "Dutton Ranch," then you're also probably a fan of "American Primeval." Just like the leading ladies of "Dutton Ranch," who still stun without makeup, "American Primeval" actor Betty Gilpin is so gorgeous — both on and off screen. Gilpin is the show's leading lady, Sara Rowell. While Sara is poised and reserved, she has a lot of depth to her and braves dangerous travels in search of a better life. Often, we see her looking gritty and worn down on the show, but in real life, Gilpin is anything but.
On the red carpet, Gilpin positively glows — not a speck of dirt on her! She has perfected the soft glam look, but admitted that she isn't into crazy-heavy makeup outside of work. She actually prefers a low-key look for everyday life. "Many of the characters I've played in film or TV wear a lot of makeup, so whenever I'm doing a press day, I just want to look like myself," she told Into the Gloss in 2017. To achieve her enviable look, Gilpin has a few specific products that she loves. "Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is the best, and I use their foundation brush, too," she shared. "Then I do a little blush with MAC [Well] Dressed. It's a tiny pink whisper. My brows are either Benefit Gimme Brow or Glossier Boy Brow ... My mascara is Benefit They're Real."
Betty Gilpin kept it real about her struggle with acne
It's always refreshing when stars get real with us about their skin struggles, and Betty Gilpin is one of them — the actor is so beautiful and down-to-earth. She's been open about her super sensitive skin and battle with acne over the years. Despite this, Gilpin has found a routine that actually works for her, and she's not gatekeeping. "As a result of having a long and arduous road with my skin, I start my morning with certain things that have helped me combat acne," she told Women's Health in 2019. "I really notice that when I have these things in the morning, I break out less. I drink this green thing, called Macro Greens with some mint-flavored chlorophyll ... I take fish oil and turmeric and zinc, all this skin stuff."
Not only that, Gilpin shared her acne-friendly skincare routine in her interview with Into the Gloss in 2017. Gilpin starts by using the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil and following with Joanna Vargas's Miracle Charcoal Bar Soap. Then, she uses Joanna Vargas's Exfoliating Mask three times a week. "Sometimes I'll sleep in it, if I've had a ton of makeup on, just to pull it all out," she said. For moisturizer, she uses Joanna Vargas' Rescue Serum, with EltaMD UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF. In addition to that, Gilpin sees Vargas for a facial once a month. "It was the first place that made me feel like I have control over my skin," she added. She also loves LED light therapy (red and blue) and even touts it as one of the things that cured her cystic acne. Gilpin isn't the only celebrity over 40 who's opened up about their struggles with adult acne, and it's always refreshing when stars get real about the same skin woes we all deal with.
