Beauty TikTok is especially all about bizarre and unusual tips and methods, which countless people then test out to confirm their efficacy. TikTok has had makeup lovers trying everything from heart-shaped nose highlighter to using eyeliner for nose contour, per Allure. Of course, it's not all perfect. Sometimes, beauty TikTok can get it so severely wrong that professionals feel compelled to chime in and caution people, like when Dr. Ahmed El Muntasar pleaded with people to stop using aspirin for acne, per Grazia

When it comes to wanting to test out a TikTok beauty hack you've seen go viral, you may often find yourself hesitant. Will this be a game-changer? Or will this actually do more harm than good? Well, this mascara TikTok hack stands out above the rest, as none other than Miss Selena Gomez herself kicked it off and sent the internet into a frenzy.

Selena Gomez starts her own viral TikTok trend

Selena Gomez has always been a beauty icon, and she solidified her role as such when she launched her very own makeup brand, Rare Beauty, which has been a huge hit in the beauty community. While in the past Gomez has taken her fair share of breaks from social media, the singer has become a familiar face on TikTok, sharing lip-syncing videos and mini beauty routines among other videos. Fans have been loving seeing more of Gomez, but they especially fell in love when she dropped her "simple quick look" and showcased a little hack that she couldn't have known would go as viral as it has, per a now-deleted TikTok.

After taking followers step-by-step through her simple makeup routine, she had everyone pausing and rewinding when it came time for her to apply mascara. Instead of simply applying mascara to her bottom lashes, Gomez grabbed a pair of tweezers and coated them in some of her Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Universal Volumizing Mascara. Things got even more interesting when she used the coated tweezers to grab sections of her lower lashes and clump them together. The method created a "pointy lower lashes" look that instantly achieved doll-like eyes reminiscent of '60s-era Twiggy makeup vibes.

Of course, everyone immediately had to try it, and people confirmed that it worked. Considering how easy this hack is to achieve with items you already own, it's definitely worth trying. Professional makeup artist Meredith Duxbury even weighed in on the trend and gave it her stamp of approval, saying, "I think it gives a different and unique twist to a makeup look" (via Seventeen).
