Kaitlan Collins' Inappropriate Interview Outfit Will Always Haunt Her
There's nothing more powerful than a woman in a pantsuit, but unfortunately for Kaitlan Collins, the one she chose to wear during an episode of "Watch What Happens Live" in February 2024 will probably always live in her mind rent-free.
The CNN news anchor is no stranger to a power blazer and slacks, but when she tried to spice it up for the television appearance, all we could focus on was how poorly the Alexandre Vauthier suit fit her, and her bold choice to wear it sans shirt. Sure, a more risqué silhouette and the rhinestone pinstripes turned heads in the studio, but adding a bra top underneath the pantsuit would have made it a tad more appropriate, even if she had worn it unbuttoned.
Collins classed up the look with glittery jewelry to blend with the black suit, and adding that bling factor can be a great tip for rocking pinstripes outside the office. But the plunging neckline was so daring that it's cemented this ensemble as a standout look, along with the sleeves that hung slightly too far over her wrists, the pants that showed subtle signs of wrinkling, and the undone blazer buttons.
Kaitlan Collins has suffered from a few saucy fashion fails
Though Kaitlan Collins normally likes to keep it classy behind the news desk at CNN, there have been a few times when she strayed from her typical silhouette, only for it to result in a miserable fashion fail, or just a flat-out inappropriate look. For instance, in May 2022, she attended the F1 Grand Prix in Miami, and she brought the heat. She tried to, at least.
Collins wore a white collared dress to the event with geometrical cut-outs placed right above her hips, but the wrinkled, nearly see-through garment was all we could focus on. Unfortunately, the dress is categorically aligned with our 15 fall dress trends that were totally outdated in 2022.
This next example is one that Collins clocked herself. In June 2017, she posted to X that the Clemson University football team would be visiting the White House. As a University of Alabama alum, there was nothing more humbling than for her to wear the rival Clemson colors that day. "I picked a bad day to wear an orange dress to work," she admitted. Who knew the world of sports and the world of fashion had so much in common?
