Melania Trump's Go-To Manicure Is Polished But Predictable

First Lady Melania Trump is well-known for her love of fashion and beauty, as the former model always makes sure to look put together and sophisticated. Of course, her style has changed somewhat over the years, with her embracing more polished, classy looks after her husband's career as a politician took off. While she is usually styled to perfection, there have been some faux pas, too — Melania Trump has worn outfits that are completely inappropriate, and she has made a few makeup mistakes over the years. Nevertheless, most of her choices remain timeless and chic, and her go-to manicure is definitely an example of that.

In recent years, Melania Trump has been a huge fan of milky nails — a trend that had a resurgence in the early 2020s, thanks to variations of it such as the fresh and earthy "cappuccino milk nails" of 2024 and even the classic glazed donut nails with a Hailey Bieber-approved upgrade. While these variations have been popular choices, Melania tends to stick to the classic, milky ones. "A much softer version of a white manicure, the milk nail manicure is a minimalist nail trend achieved by applying a semi-sheer white or pale nude polish to paint a more subtle wash of colour to mimic a soft and creamy 'milky' appearance," manicurist Ami Streets explained to Elle, adding that the look has become so popular because it's versatile, working with any length of nail, outfit, and skin tone. "... it's a great effortless but elevated look."

Melania Trump used to love a French tip — but not anymore

Prior to hopping on the milky nails trend, Melania Trump was a fan of the classic white French tips. As a style very popular in the 2000s and early 2010s, Melania was usually seen rocking it in a minimalist form. In fact, the former model rocked relatively short nails, which allowed for a thinner French tip, and as it turns out, micro French nails are the ones that are predominantly popular today.

"The baby French mani is your typical French mani but with a thinner accent line on the tip of the nail," salon owner Lilly Rojas told PopSugar. "It gives the French a more subtle and modern look." And with baby French manicures being popular in the early 2020s, we can definitely say that Melania Trump was one of the trailblazers for this trend, as she had worn and outgrown it by then.

Now, while we respect a simple and minimalist approach to manicures (and we adore the milky nails trend), we do hope that Melania Trump switches it up soon. First Lady, may we suggest the opalescent chrome "pearly girl nails" for your next mani appointment?
