Hallmark Star Barbara Niven Is Still A Blond Bombshell In Her 70s

"The Bold and the Beautiful" star Barbara Niven turned 73 in early 2026, but if you look at photos of her, you could easily believe that she's in her 50s. With Niven's luscious blond hair and contagious smile, the actor is among the Hallmark stars over 50 who are aging like fine wine. In March 2026, Niven attended a Hallmark event in Hollywood, and she stunned on the red carpet wearing a purple cowl-neck dress. Her bouncy blond hair was as bright and radiant as her smile, and the actor's skin was practically glowing.

While Niven was always known as a blond bombshell, the actor revealed that behind closed doors, things weren't so glamorous. "I think secrets and fear keep us sick in life," she told Woman's World in 2021. "My eating disorder did that to me for decades. But one day, my daughter fainted during cheerleading practice, and it turned out she was struggling too. I'd seen my mother do the same thing, and in that moment, I knew it had to stop with me." The actor added that once she reached out for help, speaking about it gave her relief. Niven's openness about her health has undeniably also helped many, as she continues sharing her healing journey.

When discussing her everyday beauty routine, the actor explained that for her, less is more. "I wash my face with warm water and Dove soap with aloe a few times a day, and then I use L'Oréal moisturizing cream," she shared. "And sunscreen is an absolute must. I don't spend a lot of money on beauty products. I think if you look for the beauty around you, you automatically shine from the inside out."

For Barbara Niven, working out and eating healthy play a big role in her everyday life

In her late 60s, Barbara Niven revealed that an active lifestyle is her priority. With that, the "Chesapeake Shores" actor also focuses on healthy and nutritious meals. "Protein is big — I aim to get 50 grams a day and eat lots of fish to do it," she told Woman's World. While getting enough protein from food is certainly an option, you can also incorporate protein powder into your diet in a healthy way.

Niven explained that her workouts are regular, ensuring that she remains healthy and fit. "I also work out three times a week and make sure to get 10,000 steps in each day. It not only helps my body but also my mind." The actor admitted that walking on a treadmill is a common way she achieves her steps goal. And of course, while she walks on it, she watches the channel we've seen her face on so many times. "I keep the Hallmark Channel on. I only want positive energy in my house — it helps me stay stress-free!"

In a 2024 interview with 50 Plus Magazine, the actor stressed that "strong is the new beautiful," and we couldn't agree more. In fact, weight training has shown numerous benefits for women, especially for their joints and mental health. If weight-lifting workouts seem intimidating, our tips will help you get started, and, judging by Niven, feeling strong does truly make you look beautiful. With decades in the spotlight, the Hallmark star is aware of the double standard women in Hollywood face when it comes to growing older. "For women, age is a double-edged sword. We are judged and stereotyped," Niven said, adding that when she embraced her age, she realized how many beautiful things come with it.
