"Western‑inspired 'cowboy' leans into cinematic Americana," RMIT University fashion and textiles expert Carol Tan told ABC News. "It blends traditional western elements with contemporary streetwear and luxury styling." This can seem daunting for a newbie to embrace, because many of the elements are inherently statement-making. You can't sort of wear fringe and cowgirl boots; this kind of wardrobe is loud, and if you're going to do it, you have to go all the way with confidence. So following in the footsteps of A-listers who have cultivated their own Western wardrobes is the best place to start. 

As people like Jennifer Lopez and Lana Del Rey demonstrate, there's no single way to pull off a country look. Bella Hadid doesn't just cosplay Western; she owns a home in Texas and is a qualified equestrian. So it's no wonder that she pulls off countrycore like a pro! In August 2026, she shared an Instagram Story that showed her in Colorado donning some Western staples (via W). Thrown over a black bodycon-style minidress, Hadid wore a leather jacket with cowgirl fringe. She finished off the look with knee-high cowgirl boots, a Western belt with turquoise accents, and a custom Love Tokens Jewelry necklace. Compared to her younger sister, Gigi Hadi's Western wardrobe seems to be a little more laid-back. Every outfit she rocked during this era was peak Westerncore, but one of our favorites has to be her Grammys 'fit. Posing with Victoria Monet, King B wore a Louis Vuitton studded jacket with matching shorts and a buckled belt, a white Stetson hat, and a leather bolo tie, giving country a high-end glam makeover.

The Kardashians love a themed party, and they're also no strangers to dressing to the nines in Westerncore. In January 2025, Kim Kardashian threw a cowgirl-themed party for daughter Chicago, who was turning 7, and the cake featuring a pink cowgirl boot wasn't even the most impressive part. For the event, Kim reached for a leather shirt tucked into faded jeans with a buckled belt, as seen in a photo posted to her Instagram Story (via Harper's Bazaar). She also appeared to don leather chaps, a cowgirl hat, and a traditional cord bolo tie. Yee-haw!

As if this signature Western element wasn't enough, she completed the ensemble with a cowgirl hat and matching boots. Teen Vogue included this look on its best-dressed list after the event, citing Kesha's masterful layering of textures.

Jennifer Lopez's signature aesthetic has always leaned more high-end and glamorous than country, but she nailed Western dressing at the 2021 Met Gala. The plunging chocolate gown from Ralph Lauren might have been J.Lo through and through, but she went full countrycore with leather accessories, including a statement belt that resembled a holster from the Old West, plus a black cowgirl hat. In March 2023, the former lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls got all dolled up for country night on "The Masked Singer" in high-waisted skinny jeans tucked into cowgirl boots, a denim shirt tied up at the bust, a red neck scarf, and of course, a cream cowgirl hat. It doesn't get more country! "Yes Nicole I'm here in Louisville smiling right!!!" one fan commented, giving their local tick of approval.

Within the countrycore aesthetic, there are multiple avenues to explore. In February 2026, Lana Del Rey stepped out for the Ralph Lauren show as part of New York Fashion Week with partner Jeremy Dufrene, going for a whimsical, romantic Western look. Donning coppery cowgirl boots, she based her outfit around a sheer, white flowy dress that was giving "prairie wife" with its ruffles on the bodice, topping everything off with a marbled brown leather blazer.
