Downton Abbey Star Michelle Dockery's Sister-In-Law Is Also A British Television Icon

We still have love for the sweeping British drama "Downton Abbey" even years after it ended. So much so that we've often wondered what the cast of "Downton Abbey" looks like in real life. Unsurprisingly, stars like Michelle Dockery are as gorgeous as ever, but we have another fun bit of trivia for you: Dockery's sister-in-law Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a British television icon herself! Waller-Bridge's younger brother Jasper is married to Dockery, and you may know her as the creator of the iconic TV show "Fleabag" and producer of "Killing Eve." 

She's pretty private when it comes to her family life, so it isn't immediately obvious that the two are family. Waller-Bridge has, however, expressed some regret over how people interpreted some of her writing on "Fleabag" which focuses heavily on family relationships. While some assumed that the show was autobiographical, that wasn't actually the case. "Of course I'm drawing on really personal things and things that echo in real life, but I write about my biggest fears," Waller-Bridge told The Guardian. I write about losing my best friend or losing my mum ... whereas actually my mum's alive and well, my best friend is alive and well and we have an unbelievable relationship, my relationship with both my siblings is incredible," she said.

Waller-Bridge is multi-talented, having starred in a string of other film and TV projects. We had to take a second to appreciate such a queen, since outside of her work and much like her fashionista sister-in-law Dockery, Waller-Bridge's style choices are impeccable. We've spotted her rocking some really cool outfits at red-carpet events. For example, this black pinstriped suit is so eye-catching. We love that she paired a sheer polka dot blouse with it to keep the look fresh yet elegant.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is great at wearing smart-casual looks and elegant pantsuits, but make no mistake, she also knows how to wear a stunning gown if the occasion calls for it — another trait she shares with Michelle Dockery! A look that really stands out to us is the dress she wore to the 2019 Emmy Awards. Honestly, the worst-dressed celebs at the Emmys tend to get more attention, but this look refuses to be forgotten for the entirely opposite reason. Waller-Bridge wore a breathtaking Monique Lhuillier gown in a soft beige color with sequin details around the waist area. She kept her hair and makeup simple to really let the dress shine — a very wise choice.

Surprisingly, the star has admitted that she doesn't feel her fashion choices are always up to par. She told British Vogue in a 2017 interview that even when she's going for a "Parisian chic" vibe, she feels her style comes off as "unreliable and erratic" instead. Relatably, she once fell in love with a hat that she later realized didn't suit her. "No one could bring themselves to tell me how hideous it was because I looked so happy in it," she said. We're not sure what the hat in question looked like, but we can offer some tips on how to style a wide-brimmed hat without looking like Freddy Krueger.
