Kaley Cuoco's Second Baby Girl Is Likely To Have A Versatile Name, Expert Predicts

Figuring out what direction the rich and famous will go in with their baby names is a game we love playing, and Kaley Cuoco, who is expecting her second child with her fiancé, actor Tom Pelphrey, is the perfect candidate. While our love coach listed some red flags in Kaley Cuoco and Tom Pelphrey's relationship back in 2024, the duo have remained together, and they are expecting their second child by the end of 2026. Back in spring 2023, the two welcomed their first child, Matilda Carmine Richie Pelphrey. And in June 2026, Cuoco shared on Instagram that their family would be expanding again.

Speaking to Taylor A. Humphrey, a baby name consultant for What's in a Baby Name, we discussed the possibilities of what the couple's second daughter might be named. "The name Matilda gives us a lot to think about when it comes to baby #2," Humphrey tells us exclusively, adding, "Based on Matilda's frilly-but-strong, regal-but-approachable vibe, I would guess Kaley and Tom would be drawn to word names like Iris, Clementine, Sunday, Opal, Marigold [or] vintage revival names like Allegra, Estelle, Octavia, Beatrice, Delphine." 

Humphrey also lists "character names like Alice, Fiona, Clover, Dorothy, Aurora" and "M names like Meadow, Maeve, Marian, Melody, Marlowe" as great options, especially if the couple wants their daughters to have similar names. For a more traditionally feminine direction, Humphrey suggests "girly-girl names like Eliza, Delilah, Ophelia, Tallulah, Annabelle" and "upscale farm girl names like Susannah, Philippa, Virginia, Georgina, Louisa."

While we have no doubt that Kaley Cuoco will share the chosen name with her social media followers sooner rather than later after her second child is born, Taylor A. Humphrey tells us that if the famous couple were her clients, she'd recommend the names Susannah Lorraine or Aurora Philippa Layne for their second-born.

"Susannah reminds us of the nostalgic 1848 tune 'O! Susanna.' This beautiful, vintage Americana style name offers familiarity and uniqueness," Humphrey tells us in our exclusive chat. "The combination of Susannah and Lorraine is not only pleasing to the ear, but thoughtful too; both names borrow elements from grandmothers' names Laurie and Layne Ann, making it a creative way to honor both sides," she adds, referring to Tom Pelphrey and Kaley Cuoco's mothers, respectively.

Alternatively, the expert recommends that "The Big Bang Theory" star lean into another classic name. For her second choice, Humphrey says, "Aurora shares the letters 'aur' with grandma Laurie's name, making it a beautiful honorary moniker that still fits stylistically with Matilda," she explains, acknowledging that honoring their own parents could play a role in naming the couple's second child. "Philippa means 'Lover of horses,' which is an apt choice for the child of an accomplished equestrian jumper like Kaley. Layne would honor her mother, Layne Ann. Stylistically, this combination would fit with Matilda's two middle names, and create balance and flow with the last name Pelphrey." And as we eagerly await to find out just what Matilda's younger sister will be called, our expert agrees that the name will likely also be versatile.

Speaking of the name the couple chose for their first daughter, Taylor A. Humphrey shares with Glam exclusively, "It's easy to see why parents like Kaley Cuoco and Tom Pelphrey would love a vintage name like Matilda. While feminine-sounding, Matilda actually means 'strength in battle' and has been borne by queens and empresses throughout history." 

Humphrey adds that just like her Susannah suggestion, Matilda also references music, thanks to the folk song "Waltzing Matilda." The vintage name also evokes "Roald Dahl's beloved eponymous novel and film adaptation, adding to the nostalgia of this sweet, whimsical-sounding name." Humphrey also explains that nicknames can be the deciding factor when picking a name, and in this case, Maude, Mattie, Tilly, and Tilda are all lovely options. All the adorable moments between Kaley Cuoco and her daughter Matilda showcase that the couple's name choice was absolutely perfect!

"Matilda's middle names are Carmine Richie, honoring mom Kaley's father's middle name (Gary Carmine Cuoco), and dad Tom's father's first name (Richard Pelphrey)," Humphrey explains, adding that following this logic, their second-born could honor the couple's mothers. "I could see them using honorary names for this daughter's middle name(s) as well. 'Laurie Layne' has an adorable ring to it! I could also see them combining the two names into something like Lorraine, which would also be very sweet."
