Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour will have the honor of presenting the CFDA's Fashion Icon Award at the June 2 event. Us Weekly revealed that Wintour has signed on to present this year's Icon award to Rihanna, a style star we know and love well, even given our continuous mourning over the demise of her Instagram account. Marion Cotillard will present the International Award to Christian Dior Artistic Director Raf Simons.
As far as the Icon award goes, we can’t imagine a better recipient for this year’s acknowledgment. After all, her unparalleled style and philanthropic work with MAC Cosmetics make her a fashion force to be reckoned with. “We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion’s most exciting ambassador in recent memory,” CFDA CEO Steven Kolb said. The illustrious singer follows in the footsteps of Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga and Kate Moss, who have all previously accepted the award. Though we might not be able to count on Rihanna herself to document her outfit choice on Instagram, we’re certain it’ll be one for the books.
