After celebrating Antonio Lopez’s retrospective last year, MAC is showing more love to the iconic fashion illustrator with his own covetable collection.
Lopez brought in his favorite beauties Marisa Berenson, Pat Cleveland, and Jerry Hall for the campaign which paired 6 of his drawings for a series of lip, eye, and face palettes, makeup bags, and accessories. As for the colors themselves, they harken back to the disco era full of electric hues including bold reds and fuchsias for the lips and striking violets and teals for the eyes with just the right amount of contrast for a perfectly contoured cheek.
"Our collection with Antonio Lopez is symbolic of a time when indulgence was at its peak," James Gager, creative director of MAC Cosmetics, explained to The Cut. "There was a magic to his world and a time in history that hasn’t been recaptured; I think people are lusting after that glamour, which is difficult to come by today."
The collection will be available in September just in time for everyone to step up their beauty game for New York Fashion Week.
