This Outdated Necklace Trend Is Being Replaced In 2025

Every year comes with its own jewelry trends, and in 2025, chokers simply aren't as stylish as they used to be. The nostalgic accessory from the late '90s and early aughts has seen a frankly incredible resurgence for a while now, but dainty pieces and classic gold chain necklaces are officially taking over and putting the choker to rest once again.

"I think that heavier and chunkier-looking chokers and necklaces are on their way out because I think a more delicate and simpler necklace trend is emerging this season," stylist Jana Meister tells Glam exclusively. "The jewelry trends that I have seen this season are much more about the oversized earrings and statement gemstones," she explains, adding, "There has been a return of colors, beads, pearls, and gemstones in jewelry pieces right now." Still, bidding adieu to chokers is doesn't mean your neck has to look boring. Here's what to wear instead in 2025, according to our stylist.

For summer 2025, you have a variety of necklace trends to choose from. "Charm necklaces and smaller chain necklaces are having a big moment right now, especially for the girl who likes to layer her baubles," Jana Meister tells Glam exclusively. "The resurgence of bohemian-inspired beaded necklaces, bangles, and other bold statement styles are another dominant trend," Meister explains, adding that she adores the Gold Dainty Triple Beaded Layered Necklace from Maurices. "Necklaces options that add texture, color, and personality to outfits are the biggest trends for the summer season." Basically, think of your favorite '70s fashion icon, and look to them for jewelry inspiration. However, keep in mind that certain necklaces can age you just like any other accessory, so make sure you're not making any of the biggest jewelry mistakes that are making you look older.
