Haircuts Everyone Will Be Asking For In Fall 2026

With fall 2026 right around the corner, many are ready for a change, and often that means going to the hairdresser for a new cut. Now, before you decide to chop those bangs or layers, let's establish just which cuts are on trend for the upcoming months. To ensure we're recommending looks that are truly set to take over the hair trends of fall 2026, we talked to celebrity hairstylist and beauty entrepreneur Jewell Hingorani, the founder of Jewell Clip. In an exclusive interview with Glam, Hingorani explained just what haircuts are on the rise this fall, from surprising newcomer cuts that haven't been too popular recently to styles that took over the hair trends a while back and are still going strong.

As for what they have in common, Hingorani says simplicity and movement are what most haircuts for fall 2026 are all about. "Low maintenance [and] easy to style at home and practical for everyday life. I think that freedom is a huge part of where hair is heading." While the "extremely long, one-length look with very little shape or movement" is outdated, Hingorani adds that apart from haircuts, the trends have shifted to embrace hair replacements such as toppers, wigs, and extensions for hair volume. "The shame around wearing hair is gone," she adds. "Overall, I think the trend is moving toward enhancing what you have rather than completely transforming it. It's less about having the most hair possible and more about having healthy, believable, beautiful hair that works for you."

A chic collarbone lob is a 2026 fall haircut that provides the best of both worlds

If you can't decide whether you want long or short hair — let's be real, both options have benefits — a lob haircut might just be the perfect fall 2026 choice for you. "The collarbone lob is going to be huge because it gives you the feeling of shorter hair without making such a dramatic commitment," Jewell Hingorani explained. While it still offers the edginess and sharp angles a classic bob can give, it is also long enough for you to still have fun with a variety of looks. With a lob, you can still rock updos and fun hairstyles, and you can get your hair out of your face if needed.

There are plenty of lob haircuts for the perfect in-between length, and depending on your hair thickness and texture, you can opt for a blunt or layered look. The best part about a lob? If you love the shorter length, you can easily cut it into a bob, but if it makes you realize short hair isn't for you, the lob will grow out in a matter of months!

A bouncy bob is a summer trend we'll see plenty of in fall 2026

Chic bob hairstyles have been trending for summer 2026, and it seems that the popular cut will carry into fall too. In fact, bob haircuts have been popular for a couple of years now, and according to Jewell Hingorani, they are going nowhere. While sharp and blunt bobs have been a common choice recently, fall 2026 is all about more volume and dimension. "I'm loving soft, bouncy Hollywood bobs with beautiful movement and subtle face-framing," the celebrity hairstylist told Glam.

While bob haircuts work on many different hair textures, those with at least some wave in their hair can benefit from a bouncy bob haircut the most. Pin-straight hair tends to result in a sharp and edgy bob, which is why those with subtle or even more defined texture can achieve the bounce more easily. Nevertheless, if you have super straight hair but you love the look, curling tools or even heatless overnight methods can help you achieve some of that old Hollywood movement in your hair.

Long layers are the retro '70s and '90s trend that is still going strong in fall 2026

If bobs and lobs are not cuts you're interested in, don't worry — long hair is still trending for fall 2026. And similar to previous months, the main inspiration for cutting it is found in past decades. "For longer hair, we're seeing '70s- and '90s-inspired layers come back with volume and movement," Jewell Hingorani exclusively told Glam.

Now, while some might not be able to spot the difference between a '70s- and a '90s-inspired cut, there is a subtle distinction. For a '70s look, the hair is longer with more prominent layers, often even starting as bangs. The hair is also usually styled away from the face, creating that Farah Fawcett shape. The '90s, on the other hand, were all about the classic blowout, with the ends of the hair turning inwards. For fall 2026, both cuts and styling variations are great choices, offering those who love long hair fun nostalgic looks to explore.

Curtain bangs are a fall 2026 hair trend that is easily achieved at home

While we always advise going to a professional hairstylist for any haircut, if you are brave enough, curtain bangs are definitely among the easier cuts you can do yourself. In fact, cutting and styling your curtain bangs at home might sound intimidating, but thanks to their layered nature, there isn't much that can go wrong. And for fall 2026, the popular fringe is once again trending.

"Face-framing fringe and curtain bangs are also really popular because they can completely change the look without sacrificing your length," Jewell Hingorani shared. So, if you have longer hair and are aching for a change this fall, committing to the face-framing curtain bangs is an easy way to switch up your look. Depending on your hair, you might need to style them daily, but a quick run-through with a round brush and some heat, or even putting them up in a hair roller while you're getting ready, will have them looking perfect.

The shag is an easygoing haircut for anyone who wants effortless hair for fall 2026

While '70s and '90s layers are easygoing, if you want to take things even further with a haircut that will truly give you low-maintenance hair this fall, consider the shag. "I think we'll continue to see the modern, softer shag for women who want something a little edgier," Jewell Hingorani told Glam.

The popular retro cut is all about embracing the messiness, as the numerous layers create plenty of movement, which often looks better the less you style it. There are plenty of shag haircuts to inspire your next hair appointment, but do keep in mind that this cut tends to work best on those who have at least some natural texture and movement in their hair, as that is what allows the cut to truly come to life. While this cut is very forgiving and doesn't require excessive styling, we do recommend using a texturizing spray, especially if your hair is on the thinner side.
