Outdated Outfits Meghan Markle Has Been Caught Wearing

Meghan Markle frequently finds herself in the spotlight of media attention. The stunning style transformation of the former actor is nothing short of impressive. She ditched the suits she wore on "Suits" and adopted a more refined, elegant style fit for her regal status when she married Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and became the Duchess of Sussex. However, even royals can sometimes make fashion mistakes, despite having a team of stylists, makeup artists, and fashion advisors in tow. And when your status as a working member of the royal family no longer holds, then — sans your fashion advisory team — your chances of choosing the wrong outfit increase.

Since moving back to the United States, Meghan Markle has no longer been obliged to abide by the strict dress codes that dictate the appearance of the working members of the royal family. As such, she has let her own personal style shine. And although she is a beautiful woman who makes an impression wherever she goes, she sometimes shines for all the wrong reasons — by choosing inappropriate or outdated outfits.

The high-waisted bottoms that were out for 2023

High-waisted bottoms are polarizing, but they were definitely one of the outdated fashion trends for summer 2023. That year was all about low-rise waistlines, but in September 2023, Meghan Markle made a public appearance in Germany during the Invictus Games wearing high-waisted bottoms in her favorite beige shade. Although she paired the outfit with stunning pumps and a matching cream-colored coat, the high waist of her pants wasn't tailored to her body as it could have been, and the look was altogether out of style.

The monochrome trend worn a year too late

During her visit to Nigeria in May 2024, Meghan Markle was spotted wearing an all-white pantsuit. Although she looks stunning in white, the look missed the mark because, unfortunately, the monochromatic trend is on its way out for the 2024 season. Although it was the "it-trend" during 2023, the new year ditched the monochrome in favor of more vibrant colors and patterns. To be honest, she did look fab, but the whole ensemble hinged on last year's allure.

The halter with dated cutouts

On April 12, 2024, Meghan Markle attended the Royal Salute Polo Challenge in Benefit of Sentebale at Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, Florida. Choosing her favorite shade of white once more, the duchess wore a halter-neck dress leaving part of her belly exposed, as the fabric straps overlapped each other diagonally. Though the dress looks great on her, bared skin unfortunately went out in 2023.

Is it a dress-shirt or a shirt-dress?

Although Meghan Markle's dress (shirt?) seemed like a comfortable garment to wear while attending the Invictus Games in Germany in September of 2023, stiff, business-casual shirt-dresses are outdated, and we expected the fashionista to know better. Plus, the shade of this denim shirt-dress works as a perfect example of why she should stick with the "vanilla girl" covetable aesthetic and opt for neutral colors, which look so much better on her.

The playsuit outfit gone wrong

The playsuit was the unsung hero of our summer 2023 wardrobe, but Meghan Markle stretched the trend all the way into November and then threw an oversized blazer on top. Even though the playsuit showcased her legs, and the cream-white palette (her go-to favorite) was one that matched her gorgeous brunette mane and olive skin complexion, this pairing did not flow well due to the oversized outerwear, which is being retired in favor of fitted alternatives.
