Karen has been writing professionally for over a decade. She has worked for institutions that are hundreds of years old as well as brand-new start-ups in the fields of higher education, biotechnology, publishing, and retail. Her byline has appeared in many publications, including Vulture, the Washington Post, Wide Open Country, Vice, Medium, Tedium, Hyperallergic, Paste, the Awl, and the Toast. Karen wrote for Grunge for nearly three years before moving over to Glam in 2023.

Karen has a bachelor's degree from Smith College and a master of library and information science degree from Simmons College.
