Karen has been writing professionally for over a decade. She has worked for institutions that are hundreds of years old as well as brand-new start-ups in the fields of higher education, biotechnology, publishing, and retail. She co-produced the Boston branch of the popular storytelling stage show "Mortified" for 10 years and appeared in the book "Mortified: Love Is A Battlefield" and the documentary "Mortified Nation." Her byline has appeared in many publications, including Vulture, the Washington Post, Wide Open Country, Vice, Medium, Tedium, Hyperallergic, Paste, the Awl, and the Toast.


Karen has a bachelor's degree from Smith College and a master of library and information science degree from Simmons College.
